Forster 6 - Not much to do but dropped an easy cross in the first half which could have cost us.
Clyne 7 - solid at the back, a threat going forward
Fonte 6 - Gave the ball away once or twice in is own box, not as solid as usual
Yoshida 8 - Very good from Maya. Some great interceptions and blocks.
Bertrand 6 -Fairly quiet, got beaten a couple of times down the wing.
Wanyama 7 - Solid from big Vic.
Schneiderlin 8 MOTM - Excellent performance. Really dictated the tempo in midfield and worked his arse off to get the ball back. Some great touches and passing too.
Elia 6 - Quiet day for the loanee.
Mane 7 - Good game from Mane. Made some really good runs, driving at the Palace back four. Grabbed the crucial winner.
Djuricic 7- Sublime piece of skill to get away from two Palace players in the second half. Looks a very good player.
Pelle 5 - Not his day again. Missed another sitter and is suffering badly from lack of confidence.

    Subs:
    Tadic 6
    Long 6
    JWP 6

Prowse should get a 5 at most. He kept passing it to Bolasie.
I also though it was Pelle's best game for a while so a 6 for me.

Are you forgetting who made the goal?

Sure Prowsey made a couple of crap passes, but then, so did seemingly everyone tonight.

Mostly agree though I think a tad harsh on Bertrand. He was consistently looking to get forward and make something happen. Also JWP should get bumped up for his assist. Forster redeemed himself second half but that clanger could have been a disaster. Definitely rode our luck tonight.

Oh yeah, and I would give Yoshi or Mane the MOTM

Forster did drop the ball first half, but made some decent saves in the second. Thought Maya was terrific again - he has really come on this season. Would give Mane man of the match: he scored the winner, and looked our main threat all night.

Does this mean we can stop saying that Morgan and Nat have had their heads turned?

    Then I'll give him a 13. That'll even it out a bit. :emoticon-0103-cool:

Forster 8.5 - MOTM - You are saying he didn't have much to do when he kept us in it with some key saves..He punched the ball out at the end too under massive pressure from a good corner and distributed the ball well.
    Clyne 7
    Fonte 7
    Yoshida 8
    Bertand 6
    Wanyama 8
    Schneiderlin 8.5 - MOTM
    Elia 6
    Mane 8.5 -MOTM
    Djuricic 7
    Pelle 5

    Long 7
    Tadic 7
    JWP 7

Mane scored the rebound from a Ward-Prowse shot after he drove towards the edge of their box well..giving him a 5 is nonsense at best

Can I just say credit to Ron too. The substitutions worked.

Forster MOTM?! Not a chance. That dropped catch in the 1st half was dreadful, could have been a game changer. Everything else he did was simply what a goalkeeper should do, nothing out of the ordinary. One decent punch and a good save from a shot that was aimed directly at him.

It comes down to how vital you think those saves and punches were in the game. I'm not knocking him down for a little mistake that he recovered himself.

Going by that logic, JWP would be man of the match too.

No. Mane could be by the same/similar logic since he bagged the only goal of the game with a fine finish..

The trouble is, everything a keeper does is ultimately vital to the outcome of a game - be that mistakes or saves, so unless they have a worldie they seldom get considered for more than a 7 out of ten. If the make mistakes that cost a game they get barracked, whereas if Morgan makes a stray pass it gets hidden under a range of excellent passes. Forster made some okay saves, dropped a bollock and distributed well today. So yeah, he would get a regular goalie 7. As would Speroni. But neither did enough to warrant MOTM based on game changing performances.

Fair enough. I guess we all just prioritise different areas of the pitch.

And for the JWP knockers, we'd gone 6 hours and 27 minutes at St. Mary's without a goal. I say bless that lovely young lad!

Well either as JWPs was the decisive move and Mane's the decisive touch, but as you can see, it's not something you judge a MOTM performance on. Well...perhaps you do...but it's not the common measurement.

Mane was a constant nuisance, he's a real wildcard, shades of the great Faustino Asprilla sometimes. Mane did much more tonight than just score.
