Have to agree and we're just behind Derby in the odds for winning the title. I wonder how the odds will change after we play them in 11 days time????
SN, on a serious note, I accept you have always supported Grabban, surely even you can see the improvement in his game under AN?
He was hot at the start of the season as well and then dropped away, Dave. AN does seem to have got him back on track though!
He was scoring loads at the start, but he was missing far more and most of his goals seemed accidental, a scuff here and a huge deflection there!
He's doing ok but he's still missing more chances than he's putting away IMO. One thing is for sure he's not a PL striker, far from it and I would suggest that should we get promoted he will quickly become surplus to requirements. That might sound a bit harsh espescially as he made Johnno's goal on Sunday and bundled in the second, but it's just my opinion. SN you might want to bookmark this post and use it for your signature next season
To be fair he was dropped for a few months and plaid out wide during his **** spell. I like all 3 strikers Grabban is technically 3rd best but he works hard and rarely gets injured. Weirdly enough even if Grabban scores 20 goals and fires us to the Prem some posters would rather see Lafferty play .
I agree Dave - I think he's a much better player now than he was at the start of the season, even though he was scoring goals.
I think it's his work rate that has vastly improved under AN, he's pulling defenders out of position with his runs!
He seems like a completely different player under AN, almost unrecognisable from the Grabban who was scoring goals, but offering very little else during the first half of the season. He looks like a £3m striker at last, perfect timing for the run in
I think you're right, KIO, especially about the misses continuing, but I also think that AN rates him and the shift he puts in and I'd see him staying for that reason and the fact that his counter-attacking game would be useful against PL teams committing players forward.
With a slight deflection off an Ipswich player's heel. I agree, he misses more chances than he scores!!! He might be worth hanging on to.
Only 12 so far this season and a few have been quite 'lucky'. For the record, I'm not convinced, but since AN came in, he has been a greatly improved player!!
Obviously I'm not a fan at all but compared to his form early this season its a vast difference. Yes he was scoring goals but his all round game was abysmal and the goals were helping to hide his poor play. He still drives me absolutely potty - constantly and needlessly offside, misses big chances, first touch is often hopeless; but, he is currently playing well, making defenders feel pressurised - something he never did before - and there'll be few complaints from me if he continues to work hard and helps the team to promotion. I said the other day I think we play better football with him up front rather than Jerome. No question Jerome is the better player but that is a big statement from someone who doesn't rate a player! But there's no doubt in my mind if we go up he'll get little to no game time.
"Pretty sure this thread should now be moved to the ipswich board - little point having it here anymore - they look to me, despite common conceptions from our fans, that they are going to stay the distance this season. whether they go up automatically is still up in the air but i think its almost certain they will finish above us. automatic promotion is nothing but a fantasy for us now." I'll get my straight jacket.
