O'Shea "gets away with it" because the referee thought there had been 2 fouls. 1 by O'Shea that actually happened but wasn't worth a red card, and 1 by Brown which he thought was worth a red because it was as he shot but didn't actually happen.
I've noticed this a lot recently. Is this some new Ticklerism like "ku de ta" that I missed during my absence?
Play Robinson and Elmo as WBs and Jelavic with N'Doye as the central strike team and you have the key to unlocking Sunderlands defence, pulling them out of position to lose that 'extra yard' they thought they had. Don't play like this and the reverse is far more likely.
Bruce said yesterday, that he played Figgy ahead of Robertson, purely because of the physical threat that Jon Walters posed, I think he'll Robertson tonight.
With Johnson playing I wouldn't have trusted Robinson down our lefthand side, but with Johnson suspended its a different story...
Guilty as charged, comes of posting too early in the morning. But whatever his name is I still wouldn't fancy him down the left if Johnson was playing!
On the other hand you could put on your big optimist hat and say that in Premier League meetings Sunderland won the first 4 with an 11-2 agg and in the 7 previous meetings lead 4 wins to 3. I too think it will be a draw.
Thing is though, the last few times we've played we've showed some spirit in the run up. One was of the back of a derby win I think, another other was during the league cup run last season I think. But this time there's nowt to draw confidence from.
I hope Bruce noticed that on Crouch's goal, Figgy was bolted to the ground, staring at the horizon while Walters was waiting to pounce unhindered behind him(Figgy) if Crouch didn't get the ball. It's gotta be Robertson tonight.
It depends on other results, a win would be good, especially at home but a point will be taken depending on the performance. I think we will win personally, I can see a red card in this one as well, especially given the discipline problems of both sides this season.
Gets to this stage of the season and the importance of the game can cause a few nerves and that's only the fans, how ever Sunderland on the their day like any premier team can be decent and we haven't exactly set the world alight. With our run in lets hope we win this we are at home need to back the lads and hopefully get that vital win. I think it will be close, come on city
