I'd be flabbergasted if this was any more than a case of a girl who looked considerably more than 15 telling a footballer she was considerably more than 15, snaring him and selling the resulting story.
I fear this has always been the case, it is just that more have been found out now, possibly through advances in technology.
Not making excuses for him if he knew her age but I'd expect this, if true at all, and he is currently innocent, commenced in a nightclub where it is fair to assume anyone is at least 18 and I'd expect too that any young girl in that situation would have said as much with a view to getting their leg over with a footballer. Really, does anyone think Johnson is likely to have done anything than been in the wrong place at the wrong time? Does anyone really think he's a rapist?
He is not accused of being a rapist... he is accused of having sex with a minor. Very different offences. Both abhorrent. But lucky for him, can carry different sentences
to save me looking at the sun what is he accused of having sex with a girl he met at the local playground or having sex with someone he met in a nightclub
I'm guessing it's still a rape charge though and he'd be a convicted sex offender if guilty. If they've met in a nightclub I just don't think it's fair
Doesn't matter where they met (playground, nightclub, brothel) if she said no...it is rape. But even if she consented, and he knew or had reason to believe she was not definitely over 16, it is sex with a minor. And yes either way ....he is a sex offender. The sentence he gets will reflect the degree of offence..so if it was rape at knifepoint he will get one sentence....if they met at a nightclub, and she looked underage and he did not ask, that is another sentence......if they met at a nightclub and she looked in her twenties and he asked and she said she was 20...and all admit that, he may only get a caution, but still be on the list....All that is to come out. Let us wait and see before calling him guilty or innocent
Aaah, poor Adam, sitting in his £1.6m mansion up north (want to guess the value down south?) with his long term girlfriend Stacey and their baby daughter. Just pops off to a nightclub, as you do when you have a young family at home, well known up there for being flooded with under age girls (according to the lads on the Sunderland board, some of whom ask for ID before copping off) has a few drinks (he is a serial binge drinker, again according to the Mackems) and some evil, scheming 15 year old traps him. No you're quite right, he has no responsibility at all for his own behaviour, he is the victim. 'Not fair' my arse. Sounds like you think any woman/child who goes to a nightclub and perhaps has a drink is fair game. If indeed anything happened at all.
Well he's innocent at this moment, firstly. Secondly, in a hypothetical nightclub situation, if a decent bird comes on to me the last thing I'm thinking is that she could be 15 and to ask for ID. I met up with a girl on Wednesday who was, I'm told, 23. For all I know that could have been bollocks and as someone of a similar age to Johnson I sympathise a bit.
Well I don't..... Because it all sounds so lovely, and so non sordid (a lot or irony there for those who do not understand my humour)
Lop his balls off if so. In either case here, the parents and the club owners/bouncers should take some responsibility. Both have exposed (knowingly or by neglect) the child to an adult situation (I'm talking about being in a nightclub) and then adult things have happened. I don't know if it's changed from when I was a kid, but a lot of the girls in my class were going clubbing and the boys weren't interested or wouldn't be allowed in. I doubt you'd find many 15 year old boys in clubs so there is a widespread issue of gender preference that actually leads to a bad situation. There's also grey areas that can be defined other than abhorrent - you'd be struggling to condemn the just turned 16 year old girl that has sex with her 15 year old boyfriend who is only a day younger. A 15 year old would does act like a 15 year old though so a guy in his mid to late twenties should know much better IMO (I'm now old enough that everyone under about 25 seems vaguely childish).
Right. He is innocent at this moment. And it is a big problem that because of all the publicity on this, and other similar ones, even if one day he is found innocent that won't get much publicity, and people who don't know him or know him well, and don't follow all this that carefully, will forever consider him a sex offender or worse. Of course if is also be a big problem for the girl too.
Him going clubbing and cheating on his other half is morally repugnant and say so much about his attitude. I'm offering him no excuses as such, and I have no sympathy for him, but Watford has a point. Myself and a friend were sitting in The Town Housed pub in Ealing (2002 roughly) at around 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon. He was at the bar and a couple nice looking girls came up to him and started chatting. He would have taken it further but we had to get back to Thames Valley Uni, where we were studying at the time. To cut a long story short, 20 minutes later these girls mothers came in the pub and kicked off at them for bunking off school. I'll be honest, they didn't look like schoolgirls and because of where we were and the time of day, on a week day, it never crossed my mind they might be underaged.
