still losses are losses. Adidas have conditions in their deal and CL qualfication failure would mean -£ on that sponsorship deal I'd imagine. Not being in it this time round has cost enough to buy two world class centrebacks
Missing out this year has cost nothing more than the lost prize money, sponsorship reductions kick in if we miss out 2 consecutive years
Don't think the Serie A can either. Parma are in the verge of closing down altogether and the Italina FA have asked other teams to give Parma 250,000 so they can complete the season and the majority said no. Would like to think if any prem team were in a state like that we would all come together
Contrary to popular belief utd are a sacking club, ok Ferguson's long tenure and success made him the 1st manager post Busby to have the luxury of not getting sacked and retiring in his own time on his own terms, but utd are now on manager number 8 since Busby. We're on manager number 10 since Shankly retired(4 yes after Busby)and Kenny left of his own accord 1st time around as did Paisley and ***an.
Rangers have been a plague up there, winning by default over many seasons, not paying off debts that bankrupted firms they owed money to. Only Rangers fans like Rangers enough to care.
I think really we cannot say what utd are really.. is that fiar. The club has gone through how many "owners" during ferguson's tenure. The glaziers bought it off one stock market and floated it on another. they own the majority but answer to the stock market rules and must think about major decisions in that basis. Sackings prior to ferguson have no relevance today. All we know is ferguson was convinced to stay on longer than he wanted to originally and it went on too long, he then picked his own successor and buggered it up and utd had to sack. Now van gaal is in and I don't know what power he has or who is organizing the rest of the club
Your argument doesn't hold water though mito, you reckon pre Fergie sackings are irrelevant in the modern game yet they are now on manager number 2 in 2 seasons(3 if you include Giggs temporary role), Fergie's tenure there airbrushed out the time between himself and Busby.
Look your opinion, my opinion.. all good. I think one mad mistake is not a trend so if they sack van gaal and make him a very epxensive mistake then you might have me agreeing with you. I think he will last his three years.
Fair enough, but you're not taking into account the amount of money it will cost the Glazers in profits to fund another 4 transfer windows as part of those three years you mentioned, it must be a major shock to them to have to part with megabucks compared to the relatively prudent years of Lord Buckfast.
it may well be! in the end i think the thing is no matter who it is they will have to finance those transfer windows and really sacking van gaal will just add another huge one off bill to pay him off. Their accounts this year should include some large one off payment to get shut of all the moyes and ferguson men like scholes etc. We will have to see. I don't know what will occur but I wouldn't sack him. if nothing else the side is grinding out results... they have to think he'll turn it round and have a pot on the cabinet too. Unelss of course they lose to newcastle then arsenal and stare down the barrel of 5th with no trophy....
errrrrrr..... but if everyone gets the same tv moeny (excluding bonues for higher league position) then compensating for something using that means everyone else will have more money to compete. no?
Yes but what helps us is make quite a lot more than anyone else and can absorb tye CL losses easily. Chelsea or City would verge on financial collapse with two years out. Chelsea got very lucky a few times in recent years.
