The reports are bollocks. If you want to get a real sense of our improvement in performance terms recently, our domination of Sunderland caused Paul Merson to almost break down after admitting we were very good. You could hear it in his voice. He didn't want to say it but he couldn't say anything else. When that wife beating alcoholic gambler has to hold his hands up and admit we were good.... You know we were good.
Anyway. Has anyone though about the possibility of Arsenal, Liverpool and United getting top 4? City are blowing hot on cold. They could quite easily win a game lose the next for the rest of the season. I actually thought they would march on and pip Chelsea a few months ago but they have got worse and worse. Fair play to @Tobes. It looks like I was wrong on that one. Its unlikely but its something thats rarely been mentioned. Theres what? 7 points between city and Liverpool?
not really.. city have silva, aguero and yaya..... and 7 points on 5th... for all 3 teams to overtake city would be some collapse. city need another 18 odd points Man CityvLeicester BurnleyvMan City Man CityvWest Brom Crystal PalacevMan City Man UtdvMan City Man CityvWest Ham Man CityvAston Villa TottenhamvMan City Man CityvQPR SwanseavMan City Man CityvSouthampton they have 4 very easy games before playing you. they will be out of cl shortly. west ham have switched off, villa are toast, qpr are toast. i cannot see them not getting 18 points
only you or arsenal can catch them.. us beating them took us to 7 points off.... if you beat them you close right in but they'd have to f up next few games and i cannot see pellegrini having a mancini moment. they'll bounce back just like arsenal do when out of all cups
question. would mancs settle for winning fa cup but getting 5th if they took fa cup off lfc but lfc took 4th
Was thinking about this very conundrum earlier. I could give the typically arrogant 4th AND FA Cup thank you very much, but given the choice, yeh I would, all day long. Wouldn't affect our plans in the summer, and 4th means little more than a season in the CL. A trophy is much more and against LFC would be brilliant.
But you're forgetting that in mito's scenario you would then be in the EL, Thursday/Sunday for most of the season.
Have the FA cup by all means. I had the same thought about the Arsenal games. I would happily take the league victory over an fa cup one. Of course I would love to win the FA cup as its been a while but getting back into europe, progressing faster and being better placed for future success is the priority. Arsenal won it last season. Its barely done them any good.
all premier league powerhouses this season. have you played well against anyone not in the bottom half?
Yeh. Chelsea, City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Stoke out of the current top 10. Newcastle were in the top 10 at the time too. Never great but were were decent to good in all the above. Only lost to City and that was with ten.
Go out in the group stages to Tiraspol, Libertas and Rosenborg. Either that or carry on and join you in the last 32
That was why Woodward stressed that the minimum requirement from van gaal this season was 3rd, but last Friday the Dutchman said that if he fails this season its not so important because he has 3 year plan. One of them is lying and its not Woodward.
In the short term it won't affect us. I think this summer's spending is already budgeted. Despite his crazy horse approach this season, I honestly can't see LVG not getting us CL football next season if not this. TBH above all, the idea of pining for a "position" in the league above a trophy like the FA Cup... can't understand that thinking.
