spurs celebrated the draw for the carling cup live on tv more than their QF win.. the loudest cheer was avoiding cheslea. that says it all about spurs.
It's an interesting argument, yes I want to see football played in the so called right way and yes I want my club winning trophies. Do Chelsea play anti football? Are they boring to watch? Not really, they can be at times when they "park the bus" and it's fun to take the piss. A lot of the time though Chelsea play some good footy and have exciting players with loads of ability. So I wouldn't have a problem with a defensive minded manager but I would have a problem with an egotistical prick like Mourinho representing my club.
He's just a big kid really. You could see by the way he got all playful when they won and how he sulks and blames everyone else when they don't.
I think honestly we judge mourinho more in my eyes form his time at real and inter. they sulked, cheated, stamped, fouled and poked eyes during his time. that was all anti football and out to get at barca any way he could rather than on the field. you can see this year he shut up shop at utd after 60mins and tried to defend unitl ivanovic got sent off.. he is quite happy to just get one goal and shut up shop. same with City, one up.. city get man sent off and they still sit off and defend. city equalize. Crazy stuff. in the end he has a set way about him... hammer the crap sides, collect points... defend and cheat v big sides.. don't lose. Every big game that chelsea play is largely the same and its a long time since anchelotti's cheslea swept the league with massive wins. Probably mourinho suits the CL most where he'll try for away goal and defend but somehow they just get beat by the better sides.... and i expect when they get a bayern or barca or real they are going to play the most negative style you've ever seen this year.... his stuff about his two sides and all that goes out the window then IMO
I have been entertained to **** with us this season. 3-6 at Goodison, 4-2 and 5-0 games against Swansea. Not really sure what was "strangled" in Sundays final either. We had just as many shots and attempts as Spurs did. The only thing they had was more possession. The 2012 CL final I cannot argue with, but there was only ever one way we were going to win that game. Under Mourinho this season we have been fine, though our form has stuttered in the last 5 games (Swansea excepted)
That's fair enough Saint. I want to win first. Entertainment is a bonus for me, although one I do want if possible......we've been starved at the top table for too long so my view is get there first, then worry about the brand of football we play.
It wasn't meant to be overly critical, even Mourinho suggested that it was about controlling the game. At no point was the game ever going to explode into a goal fest and as entertaining as the games you've mentioned = strangled. Look at how few chances that you had in the semi versus us to get there. In tough games, games when the opposition have some teeth, Mourinho systematically stops the opposition playing through defensive tactics. He's a genius at it imo and you either love it (the CFC fans) hate it (a lot of the opposition fans) or have a grudging respect for it (I fall into this category). As a neutral, I found the final boring. Had it been LFC, I'd have been happy
The problem there is that once a brand of football is ingrained into a club it becomes their way of playing and as long as there is success it will not change again. To be at the top you have to play good football anyway, how many teams have had success with negative defensive football? It just doesn't work throught a season.
I meant throughout (RHC) the season, you were very negative in the final and can be at other times but in general the negative tag is at times unfair and if you didn't go out and play footy throughout the season you wouldn't have that success imo.
