    Preview
A horrible dogfight. That's how Steve Bruce was describing the relegation battle, even before his team lost to Stoke City on Saturday.

While the Hull manager believes that Peter Crouch's winner was offside, he also needs much more from his players at the moment. Hull only produced one shot in the whole game at The Britannia Stadium.

Tuesday's opponents Sunderland have gone four league games without victory, and Gus Poyet has only seen his side win once in the league since Christmas.

One of those defeats was at home to Hull on Boxing Day. Sunderland got off to the perfect start when Adam Johnson scored in the first minute but Hull came back to win the game 3-1.

That was a fourth successive victory over Sunderland for Bruce. Last season Hull beat The Black Cats home and away in the league, as well as 3-0 in the FA Cup.

Hull endured a miserable January, losing four games in a row in all competitions. Bruce's team started February in much better form, drawing away at Manchester City, and beating Aston Villa and QPR at home.

Saturday's defeat to Stoke is a setback, but this game offers an immediate chance to make amends.

Victory for Hull would be their third home win in a row and very crucial. After this Hull have only five remaining home games - and four of those are against Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Below these two in the table are QPR, Burnley, Aston Villa and Leicester - all within four points of moving out of the relegation places.

Both Hull and Sunderland do have thin point buffers above the drop zone, but the other dogs in this fight are circling to claim a safety cushion of their own.

Hope the players are up for a fight because that is what they are going to get, another horrible fixture, and given Hulls remaining home games they will see this as a must win, we see it as a must not lose Uggghhhh !!!! I hate saying it but another 0-0 will do me.

I'm hoping we'll stay up but I'm pretty sure we won't stay up as a result of us winning games and deserving to stay up. I just think we'll scrape it and that others will deserve to go down more than us.

The troubling thing for me is that, should we stop up, I don't see a better season ahead under Poyet next year.

Wow - You found a video of the last time we beat them!! Must've taken some work!!!!

Dreading the game. I think, had we gat any of the penalties at the SOL, I'd have more confidence (as I think we would've taken three points) but the seond half performance was so dire I can't have confidence going into the game

The lack of optimism is worrying as we have a decent squad and we should be in a better position than this, we have had a lot of key injuries though and combined with this horrible fixture list it has caught us out, we are two wins away from where we should be in imo and there is still time to put this right but we must go all out to win our home games which are all six-pointers, and defend like our lives depend on it away from home. Lets face it we were doing OK against Man U until the penalty incident, and if we can frustrate Hull who knows.

Well I will be at the game so I hope we get at least a point. They are as bad as we are at breaking down teams so I can see a nil nil yet again!

Just hope we can nick one to win it. I am not expecting a game of flowing end to end football just a scrap

We always look decent value for a draw mate. We never look decent value for a win.

It's staggering because the squad we have really aren't all that bad individually.
