Ermmm how can anyone suggest a team didn't want to play in a cup final? Is the overhead kick by Cesc not football? Were the countless dribbles down the left by Hazard not football? Are the many whines and digs by Costa not football? Dave busting his head? I'm not for football resembling basketball.
Its what losers say. all these critics of solid tactically astute football all support teams that don't win anything, or at the least do so inconsistently. im sure a few city fans or arsenal fans would love to have a manager like ours who sets up to win and does. like the man said: you don't go to a final to play, you gp there to win.
Pleased to discover the game live here in OZ on our SBS Channel. Spurs did look lively first half and we were pretty disjointed and misplaced too many passes. As the game went on we just took control and pretty well ran the show I thought. Spurs gave very poor service to Kane and young Zouma took care of loads of dangerous looking moves. Our back 4 grew and grew, JT stood out, Cahill had a great game and Ivan and Dave were pretty impassable. Our attack still misfired I believe compared to the fluid play of early season, but the class showed through. Great team performance, and kudos to JT and Zouma, this kid is gold, what a performance in a completely new role. Yet another defensive option has been discovered, allowing Jose to rest and interchange the defence seamlessly. Final word on Spurs, they are not far off being a very good team and astute strengthening in 2 or 3 key positions will see a much better team in the future. Good work by their manager.
Most of them are bitter idiots. As Jose says, a final is there to be won, not played in a certain way.
I think we were fortunate to go into the break at 1-0 and that made a massive difference. Spurs were half the side after the break and played into our hands. Good solid professional display in the end. The sort rivals and neutrals don't like but gets Jose results time after time. Hopefully this is the springboard for the league like in 05. Kane didn't hurt us like on new year but still looks a hell of a talent. How long before United come knocking?
dont think he'll go. I hope he doesnt because if they keep this group toghether and add a few stars, they'll be right up there in maybe...2 years
I dont think Spurs played badly either, gave a good account of themselves, and we didn't maul them by any means, could have gone either way. We were just fortunate and maybe slightly sharper up front. Zouma and Fab did a good job of keep Eriksen and Kane far from goal, but a decent moment of magic from one of their players and it could have been a very different story. I just dont know why their fans (some, not all) cannot be gracious in defeat and start talking absolute bollocks "We were the only ones playing football, you may win trophies, but we entertain waahhh" well they dont seem entertained to me, they seem like a bunch of butthurt crybabies
Its the moral high ground nonsense that ironically Arsenal often spout. Yesterdays result hurt them badly. Perhaps the 5-3 gave them extra belief, or their finals record against us but the reactions of some would imply they wanted it badly. Some are mentioning the ref which is really really reaching.
The ref had a very good match from where I sat, in fact he let a bit of stuff go on both sides when another ref would blow the pea out of his whistle. Unusual to be able to say the ref played no part in the win nor the defeat.
The old psychological hit of a goal just before half time did the trick. John Terry was there just in the right place at the right time. Before that I was pretty nervous watching the wave upon wave of Spuds attacks. The last game I saw us play against you was the 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge last season. You seem a far more confident and organised attacking side now. Was there a fire drill your end? I've never before seen one half of Wembley Stadium empty so quick !!!!!!
