No mate, you've just got a chip on your shoulder about where you live. That's your issue not mine lol

Me making a comment about muggings and stabbings which would apply to any large UK city, but using Liverpool as the example as I was talking to someone from Liverpool, and then me clarifying that my comment wasn't a dig at Liverpool and in fact I felt the same way about the city I live in, is surely not a sequence of events that shows me to have a prejudice towards people from Liverpool? You're looking to try and get upset which is quite amusing when it's so obvious I wasn't insulting Liverpool.

I never went to uni and now have a decent paying job or even could say a career (and have since I left college at 18) and own a property.

One of my other mates has done the same while a couple went to uni are currently in jobs bit still paying back student loans are aren't doing anything even remotely related to their degree...

as as has been said, unless you get a degree specific to something, it means **** all. Getting a degree in geography means nothing in 90% of the jobs out there

Sorry but you've lost me now, back what up with examples? What exactly do you think we are discussing here? And what exactly is manly about examples?

You're just getting your knickers in a twist because I used Liverpool as an example of why someone might not be shocked by muggings and stabbings (whilst talking to someone from Liverpool, had they been from London that would of been the city I used, see how that works?) then followed up by liking your comment which got all uppity as I assumed you were joking and let you know I hadn't actually meant to insult Liverpool and in fact felt that the same applied to London where I live. If your too stupid to realise what has happened I'm afraid that isn't my problem :)

P.s. I've just realised what forum I'm posting on and how many spelling and grammatical errors I've left in my comments...

Part of your delusion has told you I'm ashamed of where I live, would you like to point why this could possibly be the case?

I said you've got a chip on your shoulder about where you live. I made a comment about Liverpool and even after me clarifying that I most definitely wasn't insulting Livrpool you've spent the next two pages of the thread trying to have a go at me.

You're obviously very sensitive about the city you live in and look for times you can get angry with people about it. That to me, is a chip on your shoulder.

Look honestly I think there are some point here i could contribute.

    1. Education should never stop at 18. people need to realize this and take a lifelong approach. doing this means they can go for much more specific interests and career paths as they progress and up skill.

    2. initial education will in many cases bear no relation to what they do. however the processes in education can be very similar.

    3. So the geography example. they could be chasing a specific job there.. who knows... the fact someone gets any degree should indicate to a prospective employer that they have certain abilities... such as self motivation, time keeping skills of some sort and so forth and so on. being able to manage a piece of work on their own.

    4. Thee is no right or wrong, its what someone does with their own ambition. many successful business owners or indeed people working for others might have no education papers. And many clowns with degrees have no get up and go.

    5. Sadly there is a strong bias and/or glass ceiling for people who don't have a degree in large organisations

    6. final point..... Earning potential. This is the big one. Yes by all means people can enter work at 18 and work up and have a good job and buy their own home and indeed have a good pension but the time 65 comes round. And yes the graduate can have a big loan (depends on thier choices too but in general big) and cna stop them getting the same home for a period.

However.... I'd contend that on average the person with MOST SKILLS (not necessarily papers) will earn most over thier career and have best pension.

After all guys 1/3 of our lives will be on a pension after 65 we hope. We want the highest fixed income then really. My strong inclination is to go for life long learning. Upgrade skills constantly especially if someone else is paying for it and get the best pension you can possible get........ and enjoy your work....
