Hi RWB. .. I kind of get your point but I think that Poch doesn't have his team yet. His decisions to get rid of Dawson, Sandro, Naughton and Lennon etc. have been vindicated. They didn't fit his system so he thought it best to get them out. The same will happen this summer. We are in the best state since redknapp left in 2012. We are good to watch, we have a system, players work hard and our manager has a strategy that don't involve boring us shirtless! This summer Levy will need to deliver players that Poch wants. He'll have to accept a loss on players like Soldado, Dembele and lamely as I think at least 2 of those will be gone. Then there will be adebayor who will need to be either given a free transfer or be paid off. Kabuki, chiriches, lennon and paulinio are also likely to go. I think townsend could be off too. I ain't digging at the players I have named, I just think he either don't fancy them or has had no choice but play them. Come the summer Poch will be in a strong position due to what he has produced with someone else's team.
Just watching the highlights on Sky. That is a bloody cheap free kick against Chadli which leads to their first goal. Now they've just shown Mourinho squirt his water bottle over the TV cameras. What a twat.
Chelsea remind me of Arsenal of old.Defend the fort whatever it takes. It's a winner for some but not for others.I'm glad Spurs are one of the others. I was wondering when Jose was going to run on and help the Chelsea defence. It looked to me as though they only had 7 defenders most of the time....with Costa putting the elbows in up front. Do Chelsea fans like watching that stuff?
Surprised more wasn't made of Ivanovic trying to take Kane's shirt off him in the penalty area. Nailed on pen but Ivanovic always does that and 99 times out of 100 gets away with it.
I don't spend too much time looking at the Chelsea or Goon boards, I'm not sure which one has the larger portion of morons and self deluded ****wits.
You can play all the tippy tippy football you want as Arsenal do but winnings about getting the job done. If Pinocchio doesn't win a trophy within the next two seasons or qualify for the CL he will be sacked.
I agree that is the big story of the year so far. I tend to spout mind game mumbo jumbo because tennis is knee deep in it. Federer beats the number 20 player 6-4. Commentators say he hits the ball better. Really the set was decided on two points, both break points: the one Federer held, and the one he broke on. Those two points were due to belief and the lack of it. It's no contest in my mind as to which group of fans are worse: Arsenal wins easily. I say that because what they do as a group is quarrel (as opposed to debate, exchange information, joke or banter) and I find quarrelsome people a complete waste of time.
I think that's why we all support Spurs as a whole. We're a much more reasoned bunch. You can't hold a civilised debate with a Goon or Chav; it just descends into either a) insults, b) threats or c) piss taking. I just don't have time for that nonsense. It's always a pleasure discussing Spurs with everyone on this board, even when we strongly disagree because we all have something worthwhile to say and make our point without resorting to the crap they spout. We can also have a decent bit of banter which is always in the right spirit, without it getting personal.
As a neutral I would have liked to have seen a Spurs (nobody wants Chelsea fans boasting about how many trophies they've bought - sorry, won). Typically, under Mourinho, they were just more clinical. Surprised they conceded so much possession, but they were content to grind out a win.
I think in the cold light of day some of these comments may appear a tad embarrassing to some of you. If you have good players and a good tactician you can win football matches. Yesterday you only showed one of those attributes and we showed both. The result was never really in doubt once we scored. Did Cech have a save to make? Instead of blaming 'illegal' challenges and defensive football, perhaps look at the absolutely woeful marking for the Terry goal that went a long way to deciding the game. Would a Jose side ever let in a goal that soft? Poch also takes responsibility for keeping Walker on who obviously was not up to task in the second half. Kane though quiet by his standards looks a hell of a player.
The only thing I think is embarrassing is the way Chelsea have to set up like bottom half team to take on the mighty Spurs.
Chelsea did set up slightly differently to normal, and in a more "boring" way, but that set up had one goal - to take home the trophy. And it worked. All of us want to win the cup with free-flowing dominant football but i'm sure most of us would swap that to have won a trophy today. 2 months ago we had an open game with Chelsea and they conceded 5. Why would they go in with a similar approach in a cup final? I think Diego Costa is a disgusting player, but he's the sort of person we need a bit of in our team. Perhaps not quite as bad as him but along those lines. In all honesty the game was never in doubt. At the time I thought "that was our chance" when Eriksen's free-kick hit the crossbar, and it turned out to be true. Our next best chances were Kane's shot blocked by Terry and a bunch of off-target attempts. If it had been the other way around we would be lauding our defence at conceding so few shots on target. Picking Cech in goal had so little effect on the game that they still would have won with Marton Fulop in goal. Also, Mourinho had some nice words for Spurs after, showing that he can almost be a bearable human being sometimes.
I would not swap our way of playing to win a trophy. If that was all that mattered I would be a Chelsea or Man U supporter. Ramos did that, remember? Spurs have an integrity that amazingly we have stuck to since the 60's. I'll go with that everytime.
I'm talking about just for the cup final. Chelsea did what was necessary. We didn't. When was the last decent cup final to watch?
