I see the word "coke" but i'm not thinking sugary beverages.

Maybe Assem does have the power to send hundreds of thousands of soldiers into two thirds of the worlds countries and provide them with Tiger merchandise so that they feel at home(obvious flaw being hundreds of thousands)...and these hundreds of thousand of folks will share their lovely Tiger merchandise with the locals, thus making them feel part of the Tiger fold...and they shall follow the Tiger way, whether it be Hull City or The Tigers....

Or maybe you are talking bollocks about a long established brand that also developed a nickname.

But the original post was about someone seeing our shirts and saying Hull Tigers. Which is not our name. Hull City is our name, The Tigers is our nickname. In any case Coke in not a nickname it is an abbreviation. So it doesn't bear any relation to the points being discussed.

I agree someone is talking bollocks.

Many on here seem determined to turn this into a pro or anti Allam argument. I sought to do no such thing. I was merely pointing out that we were known around the world, whether by our playing name Hull City, or our nickname, makes no odds, it is simply good publicity. If you want to bang a pro or anti Allam drum, feel free. I don't care.

And if the word Coke brings anything other that Cola to your mind first then we are from different sides of the tracks. But I have no issue with that. It may explain the paranoia displayed by some on here.

Clearly it does, as here we are discussing it. Is it less relevant than "Guiseppe Meazza Stadium"?

Look, Hull Tigers, which the person claimed 3 people had said when the saw the City shirt is neither our name, Hull City, or our nickname, The Tigers. If someone said Norwich Canaries when seeing a Norwich shirt you would think they were daft. This is the same thing.

Just dawned on me the four most famous English clubs Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool all get by just using their name. Fame is brought on by success on the pitch not changing the name.

    Oh oh oh, nearly there.

How do you think we could achieve that success do you think?

    Drugs?

Some miracle at the ressies which turns out a squad of world cup players for us?

Or do you think, to achieve that level of success, we'd need to raise a LOT of money?

Can you see the link between lots of money and success and fame?

    Gowaaaaaan look closer.

And show me where changing the name will raise lots of money. Even Ehab Allam doesn't believe it.

I think Balkan Tiger has shown the ridiculousness of being in favour of the name change nonsense.

As Coke is just abbreviation of Coca-Cola, your analogy is obviously bollocks.

A better analogy would be if Coca-Cola, despite being known as Coca-Cola worldwide, suddenly decided to market themselves in India as Rola-Cola.

It would be an utterly stupid thing to do, so they'd obviously never do it.

It's a shame that our club lacks that common sense.

Mr Allam quoted Coca-Cola as being a good example of a nice short name which made marketing easier.
A name that consists of two four letter words. Now where is there a football club whose name consists of two four letter words? They would be foolish to lengthen that name, surely?

Obviously, though according to AA, Coca-Cola is actually one word...

I'm being honest, I was thinking about it because I was baffled and I reckon particularly here in Victoria where AFL is the biggest sport, there is a team called Richmond Tigers, other teams are like Sydney Swans and Carlton Blues etc, we don't have any City's or Utds.

They were all Australian lads that came over to speak to me with a good grasp of the game. In fairness they also refer to it as the "EPL" which also gets on my wick!

And just for the record, I'm against the name change, so not meaning to wind people up all over again! I just want this whole thing to be put to bed.
