Yeah I think he is, he's made mistakes and will make some more. He's new to the Premier League but will grow with the experience he's gaining. He's brought a philosophy to the club and seems to be implementing it right throughout the club from youth to first team level, something like this isn't all going to come together over night and will take time. I think I see the bigger picture though and if he keeps bringing in quality like Defoe and can just tweak us a bit more offensively, I don't think we are a million miles away from a sustained period of relative success (high finishes, cup runs).

I didn't see any long term plan or sustainability with Keane, Bruce, MON or Di Canio. I do with Poyet though.

Exactly, but Gus does not do positive thinking. Down to 10 men, 7 defenders 2 quick strikers, AJ and Watmore, subs should have been Vergini and Watmore for Defoe and Whicks, keeping them and Alvarez for Hull imo.

I wouldn't say I'm worried about goal difference but definitely aware of it and how important it might end up being and to be fair I'm the same as you and sick to death of our overly cautious approach. But I just can't see the logic in going for it with ten men away at Old Trafford and risking taking a hiding putting us in a worse position with regards to goal difference.

Like Peter Reid you mean? The answer is yes.

He's had a try at getting Brighton to the premier league and came close, I reckon he could do it at Sunderland.

Well it didn't do Burnley any harm in those 2 games did it. Our bad goal difference is down to 1 game. Take that out of the equation and we look bloody good compared to the team's below us, whereas their worse goal differences are due to consistently bad results in more matches.

In a game where you're expected to lose, are losing, will lose, what have you got to lose? Take the initiative, put the oppo on the back foot and go at them. Stop playing from the back, put it over the top and keep running at them! You'd be likely to concede goals anyway, might as well lose them by giving it a go. That's why Burnley still have a chance. That attitude is great for the team and makes them think they'll still have a chance. Right to the very end.

Times are different tho. Our team is much stronger than the team what went down under Reid.

He failed at Brighton in my eyes. The money he spent compared to teams like palace was a joke.

Anyway, if we lose the next 2 he is gone.

Building at the back and neglecting the front though mate! Our goals scored tally points the finger fair and square where the problem is.

dont get me wrong mate i'm far from happy atm, i'm on the fence with changing gaffers or sacking gus, i wish the season ended now and see what the summer brings, i really want continuity and a minimum point on tuesday, preferably 3 of course, could really be the defining point of our season

He had just come up from League one with Brighton and needed to spend just to put himself on a par with the clubs in that division. You wont find many Brighton fans saying he failed there.

What I meant about Reid is, we went down under him but regrouped and come back stronger for it. If we do go down and I don't think we will then I believe Poyet would be the man to bring us up.

We are never gunna agree, you want him gone yesterday and giving 2 game ultimatums. I'd happily see him at the SOL in August as our manager, no matter what division we are in.

We have got to go to Hull with the intent to win. Take the game to tthem. Play at high tempo and press them all over the park. Bring some pace into the side (Watmore) and have a real go at them. Faint hearts win **** all......

Think I'd suffer anything to make the season end now, 7 plagues of the Old Testament, nuclear winter, zombie attack, massive meteor impact, you know, nothing too trivial, if that'd end the season right now!

Obviously, as long as no one got hurt! <laugh><laugh>
