We are now an amazing 8 points clear of 2nd place. An outsider would say the league is pretty much ours but us Bristol City fans know how easy it is for our club to balls things up! BUT...... would you now be confident enough to not only say we're going to be promoted via Automatics but also that we WILL win the league. Part of me still think we'll finish 2nd, which in August we would have all took! but now at 70 points and 33 games I would be fairly disappointed with a 2nd place finish and it would (bizarrely) put a damper on a great season. So yes, whilst we are 8 points clear with only 13 games left to play (we only need to win 11 now to win the league....) I'm still not confident enough to predict a league title. Also can someone confirm when was the last time we won a league? I think I read at the beginning of the season it was 57 years ago?.. So that's a massive % of our fan base that have never seen a title winning team.
We're not there yet and we have 3 very tough away games coming up on the spin against teams fighting for their lives and who are in a little bit of form themselves too starting with Leyton Orient on Tuesday. If we take 9 points from the next 4 games then I'll be convinced we can win the league (maybe...!) but if PNE win their game in hand and beat us at Deepdale then it might all change.
Angelic's got it spot on - if PNE win that game in hand and we lose up there it's tight. However Preston go to Stadium MK next week
Yes but there is also 6/7 games between Prestons game in hand and when we meet... They could win both and still be 8 points or more behind
At the seasons beginning I had us and Sheff as 1 and 2 not to jinx City who has bias on its side in my book we had won the league by 12 points!so I "adjusted my thinking to City second... PNE whole load of cup games as we did but came through Jan and Feb with more points than the rest.. people say the game/s in hand are not important they are win or lose...the PNE AND Swindlers games are important at the mo I would gladly sell my soul or whats left of it for 2 draws !
Man U didn't win all those titles by playing free flowing enjoyable football. They won it by winning ugly games as well. So far all I've read is what if PNE win their game in hand and beat us? What if they don't win their game in hand and lose or draw against us. We would then be 9-10 points above.
While continue to disappoint at home , they continue to spring back. I think MK Dons and Swindon are less likely than us to stay the course so I believe the automatic two will be City and Preston, We now play I think its 3 of the bottom four away from home. LO were impressive at AG and we just beat Crawley and Yeovil. We need at least points from these games. Having said we have the points in the bag always a big advantage
we need 9 points from the next 4 games to keep the pressure on the rest of the teams around us. Anything more than 9 would be fantastic, anything less......well it will depend on other results of course.
Angelic is right- PNE 8 points behind but game in hand. If they were to win and beat us it would be 2 points. Don't feel safe yet- need to wait until fat lady sings
Said we would win it at the season start no change from me Sheff utd i had for second spot, but i think they will fall short. Mk or preston for second and sheff utd up in playoff final
City and PNE top 2 for me.I'm not yet sure we'll finish top but really hope we do. The last time we won a Championship I was 6 years away from even being born Sheffield Utd have left their run too late to be top 2.
