I am not assuming he won't at all. My point is that qualification for the CL should not be an end point. It is an entry on to a competition we should compete in. We get top 4 in the league in order to have 6 lucrative matches to play and that's it.
Fairplay to Lovren for stepping up especially after his LFC experience so far. He's still a prick for missing though. At least get it on target mate!!
I doubt that it is an end in itself for us- I'm pretty sure we wanted to do better. Surely you have tried to achieve something in your life and failed miserably to begin with? Hopefully you learn from the experience and keep improving to the point where you achieve something worthwhile. If we keep qualifying and keep putting up a miserable performance then there will be justification for criticism, but I believe it's much too early for that.
agreed but there was 9 pens before him so maybe the post was in ****. I'm in his corner... lets all think back to the big man smiling serb who we should all be loving... not a moody traitor to southampton who plays like a donkey
Yes, Rodgers is a young manager who has a lot to learn. But there are other young managers who have been successful both domestically and in Europe simultaneously - Rafa at Valencia/Liverpool, Klopp, Simeone, De Boer, Mourinho. Whilst I'm not wanting Rodgers to fail, I do recognise that there are better managers out there and should any of the above become available, we should get them in ASAP.
I agree. He is not a bad manager and he keeps the team ticking. But I have the feeling that he cannot get us to take that crucial next step towards the league title or the CL trophy. We nearly did it but we had Suarez then. He worked well with Suarez and the relationship worked a treat. But with a team without one or two world class players, he does not come across as a great manager.
There are some who do well at a young age, but equally there are those who establish themselves in their domestic leagues but aren't so hot in Europe. Fergie dominated the PL for 2 decades, but his European record was indifferent considering that dominance. Wenger gets Arsenal in almost every year and almost every year they flop. City are a bit of a joke so far...... Rafa was the opposite, efficient in Europe but couldn't quite master the PL . The names you mention might not do as well as you think in the Prem, and where does that leave us? Would we rather have a Fergie or a Rafa, in the long run? Ideally both in the same pair of trousers, but changing manager is always going to be yet another gamble regardless of their prior achievements. I think we need to give BR a chance, if we make it to Europe next season, let's see if he's learned enough from this campaign to make a better job of it.
Of course there are... I totally agree. and for 4million pounds they would not come but for 6? sure they would. Of that list however... De boer is the only one really available and pushing for hi move.. Klopp is one that might be but might miss his chance. mourinho shouldn't even be on the list, rafa is not right and simeone is going to go much higher than us currently. I think FSG see that yes they can get someone but should they. They want to tell us that his style is what they want. ergo... my view is weigh up the pros and cons. There are both. I said this morning. chalk up the way he set up last night to try and control it as a pro in terms of tactical ability for europe. We have to set up this way, you cannot succeed without it in your armory so I for one was happy he showed he understood that even if we did lose to a side who with the best will in the world were well organised but nothing special.
Nah, to be fair I hope you guys hold on to the top 6/7. You deserve Europe in general and should be very happy if you get it.
Haha, cheers mate, was confused, above makes sense now. Have had a few moscow mules so not seeing clear!! Yeah hope you get europe in some form this time out, yous deserve it
