Sunderland is a massive game looking at the fixtures why not rest Hernandez and N'Doye??
Why risk one or both getting injured in a physical battle with Stoke when Jelavic is a doubt for Tuesday aswell?

Don't think anyone's bothered about the defeat as such, more the manner of it.

Bruce ****ed up, again. Why shouldn't he get called out for it?

Its so frustrating seeing us keep setting up to lose.

Why throw the White flag before a ball is kicked? There were 3 points up for grabs today.

And if he did that, cretins like you would be on this messageboard at 17:05 like Football Manager Warrior accusing him of tinkering with the side.

Steve Bruce is the best manager we've ever had. All you're the best at being is a moaning cnut.

If Aluko wasn't a greedy bastard and had done the right thing and passed instead of shot, we wouldn't have had a single shot today. Not one shot.

It really is dire. Can't wait til Bruce ****s off at the end of the season.

If we'd have lost against Man City and got a point today, most people would have said 'that's par', so we're up on the deal.

    With 2 wins in-between.

    Same old ****.

Stop overreacting as usual. It's one loss to a team in the top half. Tuesday is and was always more winnable.

Bore off with your moaning yeah ;)

As a professional football team, to not register one (that's one) shot on target in 90 minutes of football is pitiful. Stoke were also missing two of their best players in Shawcross and Bojan. I would want to be getting points on the table whoever the opposition, a point or three would have taken the pressure off the Sunderland game, now it's a massive game and a real 6 pointer. The team selection was atrocious.

Hardly. This is our second season in the Prem with this squad. Stoke haven't finished below 14th since they were promoted in 2008 with us. They are experts at succeeding to avoid relegation, something we will want to emulate (as Steve Bruce stated before the game). If we hadn't had a game on Tuesday the team might well have been different but if he had played Jelavic and N'Doye from the start one of them might have got injured or red-zoned for the Sunderland game, a game we are far more likely to get anything out of. As for Hernandez, he cannot play as a lone striker and we had already caused the Champions plenty of problems playing Aluko and Ramirez up front.

Today was a crap game in crap conditions against a very experienced side. We played badly and lost. Given the circumstances I think Steve Bruce did the right thing and it's only those with Hindsightoscopes that claim any different.

Yeah, sorry I didn't word that very well cos I agree,Stoke had nothing to fear whatsoever. With no strikers we allowed Stoke to utterly dominate.

Before the game I really couldn't judge what the result would be - I thought a clear victory to Stoke was a clear possibility. Likewise a scrappy victory for us. But the draw predominated in my mind as the most likely possibility.

And clearly it is what Steve Bruce chose to go for.

There is plenty of criticism out there on the forums and Twitter (though that isn't exactly something new) about Steve Bruce's team selection.

But I don't think he should be receiving said criticism. It nearly worked. Were it not for a true poachers goal from an excellent striker that should still be in the England squad in my opinion, and easily should have gone to the World Cup then we would have got the point that we aimed for, and that almost every fan would have settled for.

Ramirez and Aluko started up front against Man City and Sunderland. They were not exactly disastrous results.

Personally, I would have preferred to have seen Hernandez up front instead of Aluko. I think he has a lot of talent and is so dangerous.

Likewise I would have preferred to have seen Robertson instead of Figuero. Robertson has far too much defensive frailty for my liking to be playing against the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham. But he is perfect to rip apart and push back the "lesser" teams such as Stoke.

Bruce's team selection did suggest a tone of indifference.

And I am really, really indifferent about the result.

Whether that was the reminder about the Allam's ridiculous renaming plan and the semi-depression that sent me into or just the fairly awful game I can not yet conclude upon.

This wasn't a must-win game and we are still 4 points clear of relegation.

There is no need for any doom and gloom unless we lose both of the next two games.

It goes without saying that Sunderland at home is a must-win game but I really cannot see any result other than a victory for Hull City AFC.

Just to be clear, this game was not so important, in the last 4 games we have got all the points we expected, the same team did ok at Man City and Sunderland, we were saving Jelly and N'doye for Tuesday. And anymore i have forgot.

Now to Tuesday's game, if it all goes wrong can we critise without been called poodles.

Not really hitting the nail on the head.

Sunderland was always a "massive game" and "6 pointer"

    Nothing's changed with today's result.
