As you can see from that picture (according to Sisu) Kane is already going down at that point . Looks like it, doesn't it.
I agree that the officials get all the blame unjustly when they should share it with the FA. It's the FA who have refused to use video technology. They have also put people in charge who are, to put it mildly, not as good as they might be. If the FA put an anteater in charge of a game, it would be a little silly to yell at the anteater for doing a poor job. Though tbf, an anteater is unlikely to send off the wrong man. Sending off the wrong man today is only the latest in a long series of farcical decisions. More disturbing, to me, is that the officials on the spur of the moment revived the red for denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity. They called it a few times on Spurs, then lost interest in it all season, only to revive it today. It's a bad rule, but quite aside from that, you can't call it a few times against one team, forget about it for most of the season, and then call it again.
Exactly! Video would have sorted out in seconds who was the guilty party. The FA are just slavishly following Blatter's stubbornness over this.
...and, unlike confusing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlane for Kieron Gibbs, you won't be giving ammunition to the Peter Herberts of the world.
