He picked fighters, you're having a laugh? Aluko and Ramirez? I'm sick of having to watch Aluko. He hasn't had a good game in 2 and a half years yet he starts every other week. He was an absolute joke today yet again. We shouldn't be using him as a target man, but still, he's beyond ineffective, we'd be better off just playing an extra midfielder or defender than dicking about with Aluko. Jelavic out of the squad again.how many times now? It's been the problem all season. When he doesn't play we're ****. If he's injured then we should have signed another striker. If he isn't then get him on the pitch every game.
No. He's not the answer anyway, very similar to Sone. Jela, N'Doye and Diame are the big three, without any of them we look really poor.
I don't mind losing but I ****ing hate not having a scoring chance all game, or showing any ambition to get one. Far too many times this season we've lost 1-0 to a team who haven't played well and haven't needed to in order to beat us. They were jogging off the pitch at full time today, it was an absolute walk in the park for them. Not cos we didn't put the effort in but cos we didn't have the quality on the pitch to cause them any problems whatsoever.
I do agree on Hernandez to be honest. But he may have held him back due to Jela being injured... Trying to be positive but to be honest I did see the team and think he same. What's up with Brady??
Love SB but not for the first time this season regards team selection/substitution's he's left me scratching me head.
That still doesn't explain it for me. How would Aluko and Ramirez make it harder for them to attack us? It had the opposite effect, their defenders were under no pressure whatsoever. Jelavic in particular is excellent at closing down and harrying, as well as his attacking threat. When N'doye came on, our first ball forward made their centre back **** his pants and clear it into the stand, which didn't happen once with Aluko.
Piss poor, I MEAN **** PISS ****ING POOR. I was sat in a bar drinking spanish lager at 1 euro a pint and when I saw the team I nearly left!! It was the worse starting line up that I can remember and then Peter ****ING Crouch of all players comes on to score. Hopeless shambolic **** from start to finish. Hang your head in shame Steve Bruce I trusted you and you ****ed up! Mind you I am slightly pissed as well! No make that ****ing pissed
If I was told I had HIV I think I'd feel better than I do when I see Aluko's name on the team-sheet I could maybe understand Bruce resting N'Doye and Jelavic for the Sunderland game, which, being at home, he probable sees as more winnable. But to leave Hernandez on the bench is unforgivable, especially when he's been out of the starting XI for a few games.
Apart from Brady that was exactly the same side that got a point at the Champions 2 weeks ago. Was it a shyte selection then? Some people need to go and slam their heads against a wall.
Yes it was. Aluko was completely ineffective as he has been 99% of times he's played as a striker in the premier league, and was hauled off before long. Just like today.
I well remember the criticism SB got when the lineup for the Man City game was unveiled, but it worked then. Today's team wasn't too dissimilar but it didn't work this time, end of. Game over, lost, get behind the team and the manager and move on to tuesday and Sunderland.
So from the last four games,we draw with Man city(within a whisker of winning),we beat two relegation contenders in Villa and QPR, and we lose 1-0 to Stoke away. Yeah let's give the manager a right good kicking Oh yer and let's sack Phelan aswell...Phelan out Get a ****ing grip
Brady - Calf injury Jelavic - Knock on knee, didn't want to risk further injury N'Doye - Hasn't trained all week; been in Senegal and Russia and only got back late last night Should have started Robertson instead of Figueroa, but understandable to play Aluko and Ramirez upfront - it worked against Sunderland away and against Man City away.
Top managers change their tactics and team selection according to the opposition. They don't take the 'stopped-clock-is-right-twice-a-day-uber-defensive-and-no-strikers' approach that Bruce does.
