there is a story on our board about gibsons agent coming to us and demanding 40,000 a week+ we told him where to go, gibson has just found out and said he didnt know about it, so maybe it can still be on, but not sure how true all that is.

Just read that on your board. Strange that a player doesn't know what an agent is negotiating on his behalf though I suppose it could be possible. I'd imagine the deal will go through as he clearly is not in SAF's plans but at less than £40,000 per week.

At United, he is on 30k a week so he cannot expect to get more at a smaller club.

Can I just say it is great to see good fans appreciate good players. Brown and especially O Shea will be huge players for us as they lend that Man Utd breeding and will to win. We struggled with injuries and a young inexperienced squad last term and Brucie is certainly adding strength in depth. Don't know enough about Gibson to be honest to make that call as to whether we need him now?

We will be a real force next season in the top half but I dont think you boys should be too worried just yet. Lol

PS - any chance we can have Danny Welbeck as well, if its not being too greedy? Lol

Gibson, no matter what you hear, has all the abilities to be a good level prem player. He was never going to be United level, but he was noticed a lot due to the fact of whom he was replacing. I hope and think he will be a good play for whoever he plays for. I just don't think it will be us unfortunately.

I don't think you will miss any of them much tbh. Gibson might turn out ok.

O'Shea and Brown havent done anything in a couple of season.

All this means is Fergie has confidence in your younger players filling these gaps. Smalling, Rafael etc.

O'Shea has been absolutely vital as cover though. We'll miss him, definitely. As soon as we have our full backs injured and there's a lack of cover, or we need a bit of grit at CM occasionally(when desperate).
Centre half is now well covered but I will bet that during the next season there will be a time when he's missed, I don't blame him at all for going though as he'll get first team football there and deserves it.

O'shea was vital for us in the last few season, especially in 2010 when we had our defensive crisis.

It's players like O'Shea and Brown that have been the difference between Utd and the rest.
There have been times when our 1st XI hasn't been as good as our title rivals, but we've always had decent backup ready to step in when required. For Brown it shouldn't have been that way but injuries stopped him from ever cementing his place.
I think it leaves us light at FB but SAF likes his CBs to be able to play there so I think we'll see Smalling, Jones, and Evans all get game time at FB at some point in the season.
