Having failed the FL test to say he was a fit person to own the club, he won an appeal and duly took over. But then one of the court cases in his home country suggests that he did know what he was doing and was guilty of tax evasion. The FL seized the chance to have him removed from the club, (two sons remain on the board) until April. He is staying away and leaving others in charge, but now wants to take on the FL again to have them overturn their last ruling. please log in to view this image As Andy Ritchie says in his Yorkshire Post column, "His fight with the Football League can’t go on forever and I wonder if he’s reached that conclusion himself." "In truth, there isn’t a lot of point in him coming back to Elland Road if he’s got problems and other potential bans hanging over him. He needs a clean slate." " For the club’s sake and for the sake of the supporters, there needs to be a definitive ruling." While all this has been going on in the background, Neil Redfearn has managed to motivate the players he has been presented with to string a run of three wins together until they came unstuck against Brighton in the last game. “You can focus on the Brighton game but three days earlier we beat the top of the league (Middlesbrough) away from home. We’re upbeat but we’re not infallible." “We’re capable of being beaten like anyone else but at the moment our supporters are getting used to us winning. We’ll be looking for another result.” Dean Austin has been giving an insight into how Watford responded to Their mid-week win. Austin explained: “We would normally be in every day when we are playing Saturday and Tuesday matches but we felt giving them a day off would be good for the players. It gives them a chance to freshen their minds. “It was an open house today (Thursday). If they wanted to come in and train then they could have done. They just had to tell us.” Team News: Leeds have a lengthy roll of confirmed absentees with Tommaso Bianchi, Granddi Ngoyi, Aidan White, Zan Benedicic all injured and Giuseppe Bellusci one game into a two-match ban. Leeds midfielder Sam Byram and striker Steve Morison are both hoping to be in contention after overcoming their knee and groin problems respectively. Watford only have Sean Murray unavailable, although some players did pick up some "slight knocks" against Rotherham. Facts: The past five meetings between Leeds and Watford have seen 25 goals scored, 17 of which have been netted by the Hornets. As I said the other day I will not be around tomorrow to give updates. Anyone who can help out would be appreciated as there are some with limited info.
Good one Frenchie I am delighted to be going tomorrow with Mlle Yorkie and Hackney and his sons.... lets hope for a good win
Yes I hope you bring the points back with you plus a few extra goals to help out on GD. My son who lives just outside Leeds is not the greatest football fan, but is going this afternoon. He phoned last night to see if I would like a program from the game. It seems he has a cheap ticket for £20, but knows that he will be tucked away in a corner with not the best view. Of course he was taken to the Vic when young, so is wanting the Horns to win. His son however was born up there, so I am hoping that he sees what real football is like from us and doesn't get any liking for that lot. At this point I have to go out and I doubt that there will even be a mobile phone signal in the village. Disaster!
