I may have got this wrong but I was under the impression that this arbitration court could only refer the case back to the FA if it had broken its own rules. It does not have the power to reverse anything or approve the name change , or am I mistaken?.
No,you're not mistaken. There is no appeal. The Allams could re-apply to change the name, but the FA Council decision last April can't be overturned.
Your right. That's what happened with MK Dons. The Panel said they broke their own rules, the FA then referred the decision to an independent panel. In this instance the name change has to be approved by the FA Council. So there would have to be another vote in April to approve the name change.
I bet the kc tea-lady's turned her phone off to avoid the calls from those desperate to look in the know that can't get gossip off twitter.
Been told today that the Allams have actually won their appeal for flawed procedures during the original application. The result if announced is felt would have started a resurgence in the no to Hull Tigers campaign The Allams did not want that distraction toward the end of the season. The plan will be to resubmit a name change application Allam is not going to back down on this even though he promised he would not reapply The carnival show looks set to go on
Is Burnsy just fishing for more people to listen to him talking about pies? I'm trying to stay pretty neutral in arguments about the name change now, I have my opinions but arguing about it on here isn't helping anyone - but I don't see how the delay as mentioned by the press earlier in the week can tie in with the time scale required for Allam to push the name change through. The only way I can see it - if Allam has won the backing of the panel - is that they have said there is not enough time to do the name change in 2015 - so he would have to reapply for the April 16 council.
Been told today that the Allams have lost their appeal and as a consequence they are emigrating to Tibet.
If it was a loss by the Allams i could see no point delaying the announcement....the vocal majority would be happy & the silent minority would remain silent
They wouldn't have to resubmit the name change application. The FA would have to deal with the old one taking into account the ruling of the panel. Which would mean the Council voting on the original application at their next meeting.
That's How I understood it - but I agree with NorthFerribyTiger too. If Allam lost, it makes no sense delaying the announcement - if Allam won, he would need to get the ball rolling before the council meeting in April. Can arbitration panels draw?
Listening to what Burnsy has just said - he has heard f**k all - panic over. Let's just wait for some people in the know to actually make an announcement.
What I was told did not come from Burnsey it came from a local FA member (at Ferriby today)......not sure just how much they may really know though....I simply believe that the Allams would not have asked the FA to delay if the decision had gone against them
