Thats the reason he was appointed. Moyes was sacked because the club believed he hadn't managed at the highest level and that's why he failed and couldn't arrest the slide.LVG has and should be able to do the job.

Yeh I agree. Although personally I believe all managers need to be given time...as we can see atm. I was never for sacking Moyes either tbh. The league's not running away anywhere. We're financially secure, we can still attract some of the best players in the world and we will be back up there. There's nowt wrong with a bit of patience. And that's from one of LVG's biggest critics.

Manchester United have not challenged for the title because they do not have a 20-goal-a-season striker, according to manager Louis van Gaal.

United's top Premier League scorer this season is Robin van Persie with 10.

In contrast, Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero have scored 17 each for Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.

"It is true," said Van Gaal. "Robin van Persie cannot deny it, Falcao cannot deny it and Rooney is not playing there much anymore."

He isnt playing there because YOU are choosing not play him there you ****ing halfwit.
Why is he making it sound like its Rooney's fault he is not playing as a striker. <doh>

I don't think he's saying that to be fair. Where he is being an idiot is not acknowledging how many goals we're scoring from midfield. We haven't done that for years. He should be looking to motivate the players not looking for excuses.

I think he is being an idiot in that he HAS a 20 goal a season striker and isn't playing him as a striker. So he has no right to complain

Well yeh <laugh> His English doesn't do him justice tbf. What he's trying to say is that he doesn't have the striker to score those goals and he can't include Rooney bcos he's playing in midfield. Don't forget he's already given his reason in previous weeks why he played Rooney in midfield "to do a job for the team". Even though most sane ppl disagree with it.

But I just don't see the point of coming out with this. He should be saying..."look at our goal scorers, Herrera, Blind, Mata, Fellaini. Look at how many we've scored in 2015. Imagine how much more potent we will be when the strikers click. It will come and I have full faith in my strikers it will."

He can be as honest as he likes when we win, but after poor results he needs to sound like a winner...not an excuse maker.

Yeh he does but as he said, hes not been doing it this season and hes now injured.

You obviously didnt mean rooney because if you did then you clearly didnt realise its a good few years since he score 20+ PL goals in a season. 3 years to be exact.

Hes right though. We've missed an inform goalscorer.

Because he isnt being played as a striker, when was the last time he had a full season upfront as a number 9?
SAF AND Moyes both used to play him further back, which was fine when you have an in form RvP banging them in. But when you dont, move Rooney forward, he has done it for for United on many occassions and does it for England all the time too.

Yeh some shocking decisions in that game. I feel for the Saints. It's hard enough breaking into top 4 without these sh1t decisions going against you. Wasn't just 1, it was easily 2 and probably 3. Livpl got lucky but sh1t happens.

Have to admit I feel a bit sorry for Man Utd. If it had been Utd on the the favorable end of Kevin Friend's s performance that Liverpool got at St.Marys last week there would be uproar and the usual Bashing of United and strong suggestions that these sort of decisions were the major factor of United's success over the last 20 years. However when its Liverpool people shrug it off as " it just goes that way sometimes" despite the constant referee bias towards Liverpool that is only really picked up by those who follow the game very intensely.

    ABUs :(

We all get them to a certain extent although it's been a rich harvest of penalty decisions for them this season. I don't begrudge them their favourable decisions tbh, just their double standards.

Well we've turned over Spurs , Southampton and now City. A bit of bleating about the Saints game but we deserved the win imo.

Burnley at home next on Wednesday.
