It strikes me you need a broad minded chap with a sharp eye for a dull troll and no preconceptions about existing posters. Gentlemen (and any ladies that have strayed into this mans world) I give you Dutch_Mountain_Dog for mod. Let me hear you say YEAH brothers (and stray sisters). oh hang on, before you all get carried away with my campaign it wasn't a sticky mod when I got pushed to the front of this. I'm more an in the background persuasive mod than a sticky one.
I'd go with OLM too, he's got a lot of respect from the sensible City fans and is active which is important. Also impressive being active as I always thought he's probably quite old. I think he realised the error of his Leeds WUM post, and these forums DO need some level of moderation because its all too easy for it all to go to hell in a second, which would be a shame, as these already seem more popular with people who read but didnt write on other forums. Banter is fine, but plain nastiness and what have you isn't, despite the anonymity the internet gives some idiots. Let the Scooter fella do it!
I would be happy to start unmoderated - no problem with a bit of robust debate & banter amongst Tiger fans. If we can't be adult enough to not go onto other teams boards for a wind up or start replying to idiot WUM who come on our board then moderated it has to be. We should set the standard here, as we are the best group of supporters on these boards and should lead from the front. If the overall vote is for moderated and OLM is up for it then I would be very happy for him to watch over us. UTT - It's starting to happen lads - QPR on Sat, Leeds on Tues, Scunny on Sat after - what a week to look forward to!
I'll stick my hand up for being one of the Mods if you want, am pretty much reading these pages Mon - Fri 9-5 when i'm at work and then every so often in the evening and weekends too
Can I suggest that anyone interested put their names forward, and the rest of us vote! It seems the easiest way, This way we are not forcing it upon someone who may not really want it and gives fans the option of seeing who is up for it!
Going completely un-modded would concern me, it wouldn't be anything like the 606 mods as it would be one of us doing it, i like the idea of having a failsafe in reserve for if some tit like that BaNgInTuNeS from 606 came on spouting crap. Even then i'd like to keep them on the board for a bit to be able to rip into them a bit but eventually it'd get tiresome and it'd be nice to be able to just pm someone n request the thread be deleted. For this i don't think more than a couple are needed, OLM's the obvious choice and i can't see how many people would be against that (apart from brian of course), other than that just somebody as backup for when OLM goes on one of his many holidays (or has a few too many tetleys). I'm up for it though i'm more likely to be online at eratic hours (once i get back to work next week). Whoever else though, i don't mind (just not Dutch_Mountain_Dog, that display of posts yesterday?? Horror show )
I would like an unmodded board to start, but OLM can do his thing if it gets a bit tasty after we turn Leeds over, if he is willing? I would do it, but I dont always get on, and I call too many away fans '****' too much.
If we are going down the moderator line then there should be at least 2. One who gets my vote and looks favourite at the moment is OLM. If he takes it I then believe he should ask someone of a similar ilk to join him as a moderator. It would be of no use if you have 2 moderators who are at different ends of the spectrum
Having been a mod on numerous other forums I use to regularly frequent, I wouldn't mind taking up the role if you need someone else
I'm happy to do it(|I think), though I should perhaps point out that it would be my preference that this site remained almost moderation free, so I would only want to see moderation in very extreme circumstances. I would also prefer it if there was more than one moderator on here, firstly so that I don't get all the blame for any disagreements and also because I'm out of the country for several weeks a year. And Madhog, 47 isn't old, you cheeky sod.
Brian should definitely be a mod, and James.... Seriously... Ricardo or Bernstein would be the first I'd point at for OLM's counterpart... they could be like Starsky and Hutch, flying around the not606 forums cleaning up the trash and arresting (banning) the criminals who judt post bullshit... I can just see it
dj would be a good bet if he wouldn't mind doing it, and if he ever makes the transition to not606 Seriously though I like how he can have a different opinion, whereas sometimes people seem to just copy off each other and a general opinion is established which you're not allowed to disagree with, and if you do you're wrong.
I don't know, I think Tigers fans are quite normal. I think we have good debates (Harper), and there are other things that we all agree on because its right e.g. Kilbane is crap, Duffen was nuts, Jimmy is overpaid. Overall I think its a good community.
I wasn't saying it's rubbish, it was meant to be praise for dj rather than criticise of everyone else! For example he's the only one who'll dare say that he still doesn't like NP's negativity, when the popular opinion is that the goals will start to come soon enough even if we keep playing defensively.
I would volunteer if it was part of a group. Like OLM - I wouldn't want to be thought of as the bad guy when it kicks off, and I don't think the board should be heavily modded. As long as it's just keeping it legal, and telling the numpties to do one - that would be fine with me. Plus I would also not want to lose the ability to bait the occasional Leeds fan...
Is here function to remove comments in the same way as on 606 when you have the "The author has removed this comment"? I have not found this yet.
