No changes, get at 'em, **** 'em up, **** 'em off. I'm off to Old Trafford. One Stevie G, there's only one Stevie G
Going to be a tough game and we need to dig in. I'd take a point right now but sod it I'm going for another win. Shawcross is out which is a bonus. 2-1 to us. Hull Mohamed Diame is again absent for Hull as they take on Stoke at the Britannia Stadium. The Senegal midfielder has been out with a knee problem since December 3 and after another setback last week is still not back in training. He joins fellow long-term absentees James Chester (shoulder), Liam Rosenior (hamstring) and Robert Snodgrass (knee) on the sidelines but there are no new injury concerns. Provisional squad: McGregor, Harper, Davies, Dawson, McShane, Robertson, Bruce, Elmohamady, Livermore, Meyler, Brady, Quinn,Huddlestone, Jelavic, Hernandez, Aluko, Ramirez, N'Doye. Key match stats (supplied by Opta) Stoke have lost just one of their last 11 games against the Tigers (W4 D6). Nikica Jelavic has scored in three of his last four Premier League appearances where he has played at least 45 minutes. Stoke have scored a 90th minute goal in three of their last four Premier League matches. The Tigers have conceded 11 goals from outside the box this season, more than any other club. Only Aston Villa (37 per cent) have a lower shooting accuracy than Stoke this season (38 per cent).
I pick whatever line up in hindsight that would enable the greatest victory for Hull City AFC. I win.
we need Dawson in the centre of the back line to combat Crouch - McShane on the right and bring back Davies on the left - leaving Bruce in the middle would be the height of stupidity - or lack of height in Juniors case
The only possible change that I can see is Ramirez for Livermore but I think Brucey will stick with the same eleven and change it if it's not working. Jake definitely needs to sort himself out based on last weeks performance. So I'm going same again but could see a possible change of either Livermore or Meyler.
Ye but thats one performance. I am critical of Jake but he's been doing well. We need players who are going to get stuck in and take it to Stoke. So thats why Meyler and Jake will be playing. The games won or lost in the midfield ya know A problem for us in this game is our usual kick out of Greegsy to Elmo's head. Pieters is an excellent LB and he's been more than up to the task of nullifying Elmo in previous games. TWT
We'll be unchanged. Stoke have invariably struggled against lesser teams at home this season,Leicester,Burnley and Villa have all won there this term. That said it seems they've improved at home recently but with 10 wins,6 draws and 10 losses their record points to rabid inconsistency. Our 3-5-2 versus their 4-2-3-1 formation will be an interesting battle. They'll be a bit of pressure on our wing-backs if they can get their full backs overlapping with their attacking midfielders, but likewise, if Brady and Elmo get decent possession out wide, then hopefully N'doyavic will get some decent service. The pace of Moses and Diouf concerns me,but only if either the game gets really stretched or Stoke hit us purely on the counter.....there isn't a great deal of speed in our back three to combat it. Fancy a draw.
Yeah I agree Chazz, we definitely need the industry of Meyler and Livermore in midfield, all's I'm saying is that Livermore's game last week was poor, in particular his passing, and so if there is to be any change I see it as being in the centre mid positions.
Sadly I wont be making this one. I say sadly, then remembered its Stoke, so its not all bad I guess, frigging ****e hole. Happily I have my tickets for Leicester and fingers crossed, Diame will be back for that one. I think we'll go with the same starting line up as last week, I suspect this is seen as a point is a bonus game, so fook it, lets go for it.
I think its cos we had to be more offensive and Jake, for whatever reason, just isnt comfortable going forward. I'm hoping Phelan really gets into his head as Jake has all the attributes to be an excellent player and get in the England side. I saw some stats for one game and Hudd and Meylers passing accuracy was 70-75%, Jake's was about 92%. I thought kinell, then when you think about it he doesnt take risks and always looks to knock it off simple. Sometimes thats the right thing to do but as a CM you have to attack and drive forward, like Diame does or fat Frank, & Stevie G in their prime. He has the ability but mentally its not happening. There was one moment second half and the whole QPR back four backed off him and he just didnt have the confidence to drive on into the box and shoot, he was desperate to lay it off, which he did, badly.
Tek a draw now, but hopeful of more. We weren't too good last week. Need to be more decisive, move the ball quicker, create more chances for our stereo strike force.
I reckon SB will take the opportunity to field another unchanged team. I feel confident enough to predict a 3-1 scoreline in our favour.
From the way Brucey has been talking today same team but Hernandez for Jelavic, Jela on the bench saving him for Tuesday.
I would have thought the same as you but Brucey today was on about Jela getting over his knee op and another game 3 days after tomorrow so wouldn't be surprised if he had him on the bench tomorrow.
