Only 6 weeks late. But I will be very happy if/when this is confirmed. Just the sort of player we need who can play instead or alongside Murph May also mean that McGoldrick's injury is worse than previously thought and may be out for a week or two more
****ing get in, just the type of player to bring on to hassle tired washed out ex premier defenders. come on!
Pleased with this. Going to assume two things. 1 - McGoldrick injury could be more serious. 2 - We're likely to revert to 4-3-3 from here on in. I also have a feeling Chaplow may be a more useful signing than people imagined at the time.
Firstly, he's a quality championship player, so very good signing. BUT - two issues i have. Firstly, he hasn't played all season (albeit it a 30 min run out in the FA cup), so he will be extremlely rusty, and therefore my take a while to get going. Secondly, MM will not drop Murphy or Sears (unless we get an injury), so when is he going to get a game? I personally would've preferred an attacking midfielder/wide man who can supply the ammo for Murphs and Sears, who realisticlly, just feed on scraps.
Stretchy I think this signing is an indicator we're going to go back to 4-3-3. He hasn't signed any wide boys, so could be the return of Mings/ Parr at full backs and three uptop. Yes please.
Some people are never happy...we sign Sears for next to nothing, Chaplow on loan, Vardy on loan and Wood on loan, all till the end of the season or that option, all attack minded players but still we have a moan about it. Ok Wood is going to be a bit rusty, we may have said the same about Chaplow but I thought he was very good the other night, tell you what why not wait and see them okay a few times before you start pulling things apart? Remember Murph is the leading goal scorer feeding off scraps.
I don't think he'll start with a 4-3-3, but, if we do go behind in games, then i think he will get a bit gung ho and revert to a 4-3-3
I think 433 is likely, it is now roughly 1.5 points per game to get in the play offs, MM is maybe rolling the dice a bit (finally) thinking winning our home games and pinching the odd point or result away from home will see us to an extension to the end of the season!
Hoppers - there's no point in signing 4 strikers, if a) they're not going to get a game, and b) we have no one creative enough to make the chances. if you look at our squad now (well our attackers), we have; Murphy Sears McG (possibly injured) Varney Wood N. Hunt (injured) Varney and Wood will be direct replacements for Murphy (if required0, but there's no one else in the Sears mould to replace him. IMO it was pointless getting BOTH Varney and Wood in (unless either can play off the front two)
Like you sretchy, for this one I think 4-4-2. However, I think we'll revert back to 4-3-3 which we were more successful with earlier in the season. Signings would make me think this likely ( signed a central mid, central striker and wide forward, not signed any wingers )
Varney was a good signing, simply replacing substitute Noel Hunt with a hungry player probably not breaking the bank. Won't play much.
Varney can also play wider if required, Didsy can also and IMO is more suited to a deeper lying role just behind a 2 or lone front man, that then leaves you Murph, Sears and Wood as your front boys, Hunt is probably not in MM thinking anymore this season.
My only wish is that we signed him in January but I'm delighted that we have got this done! 4-3-3 with Murphs,Sears & Wood = FIREPOWER!
