I think Renault will ditch Red Bull before too long. Rumours are they are planning to go it alone again because their brand is being made mud at Red Bull. They are looking to buy either STR, Force India or Lotus.

It'll be an Infiniti engine I presume.

Either way, I can't see Red Bull being back at the top. Newey stepping back too is another reason why.

Red bull were vetoed against by the FIA to make their own engine so I doubt it.

Anyway 3 controversies and the season hasn't even started yet.

1: Force India and other teams trying to take Marussia's winnings.

    2: Alonso's crashtestwindelectrocutionalienabductionhasn'tgotaconcussionvettelsaysdifferentlyhondacoveringtheirtracksGate.

3: A make believe female driver who cant score points like she can 'score' with rich men. Yup I went there.

That's what will help females in the sport. Promoting about the worst one possible because she looks the nicest. Probably puts back a legitimate female chance a couple of years every time it's happens.

Wolff (assume this is who is being referred to) has put in very respectable performances. Is certainly no Giovanni Amati. Until (unlikely as it is) Williams give her a set of super softs and a low fuel run, it will be hard to judge as she has only so far been used for setup work and not out and out pace, even on the Friday's she did last year.

Is easy to sneer, but if she was no good, Williams wouldn't waste their time with her now that Toto is well out of the picture.

    Frank does not do sentiment!!

Toto might have less to do with Williams but Mercedes are more to do with their performances last season than Williams themselves.

Susie gets car time once or twice, Williams gets cheaper power units for the whole season in which to focus the rest of the money elsewhere.

Frank might not be sentimental but he wont turn away the golden goose seller if it means just wheeling through a few rings to get it.

Possibly, maybe he has learnt from his time with Honda when he lost the contract for refusing to take Satoru Nakajima, or losing Newey because he sacked Hill? Still think if that were the case Merc would put one of their young drivers in though as Wolff realistically will never drive for Mercedes after Ros/Ham leaves so seems little point 'training' her for nothing.

Still don't think she is that bad and certainly no worse than any rent-a-driver that is on the grid.

The reason Lotus have her as reserve driver is simply because of the coverage the team will get, the exposure for the sponsors and the line of Carmen Jorda merchandise they will be able to shift.

Now if the teams weren't so broke and finding a company interested in sponsoring a F1 team wasn't almost impossible, this wouldn't happen and female drivers with actual talent would be more likely to make it to the top rather than the talentless lookers.

Just something else to blame Bernie for... Can't exactly fuss at Lotus for doing anything they can to stay afloat another year.

Ah, with you now. Not read that article!

Hey, come on, she was 29th in GP3 overall and had a highest finish of 17th, that's err, um, pretty, okay that's crap.

Plus when she quit her replacement won the next race in same car!!!!!!!! Same car that her best finish was 17th. Motor racing in general need to encourage girls to get involved at an early age. Not just use the few that are around as posters.

It looked like di Silvestro had a good shout with Sauber for 2015 but then something went wrong which no one really got to the bottom of. She was probably the best to date and was certainly putting in respectable performances in Indycars.

You'd think there would be sponsors clamoring to get a female driver into F1.

It would appear the other reason Force India objected to Manor using a 2014 car is that their proper 2015 car will not actually hit the track till at least China!!! So I am guessing that FI were worried that Manor with a 2014 car that had all the bugs ironed out would beat FI's interim 2014 modified for 2015 specs. So Manor could have taken points from Force India in the event of some reliability issues in the rest of the field.

4 massive controversies and an F1 car hasn't even turned a wheel in fury yet...

More F1 sportsmanlike behaviour would be good to see. Having said that, I am still (ashamedly) impressed that Bernie managed to Bribe his way out of a Bribery prosecution.

    Yes.
In the aftermath of such example, perhaps we should not wonder at others employing similar tactics to get want they want regardless of ethics, and/or flouting laws and common morality.

Is it any wonder that there is such irony in the very title of this thread? I mean, where do we start? F1 is currently serving up so many main-courses that it's difficult to choose a particular whine!

    Agree.

Jorda has absolutely zero credentials to be in F1, apart from the fact she'd look fantastic on a poster.

If she had the face of Susan Boyle, she'd be nowhere near F1.

And the same goes for Susie Wolff, albeit to a lesser extent.

She does have some driving talent, but no more than a few hundred other young male drivers that won't ever get considered for a role at am F1 team.

She is probably perfectly good at what she does for her role, but she got there purely because of who she is married to and the fact it will bring publicity and sponsors.

    Harsh but sadly true.

Ah yes, Carmen Jordà. Of course, the 'J' is pronounced as 'H' in Spanish, carrying a very unfortunate association to English-speaking ears :emoticon-0136-giggl

In defence of Jorda, at least the camera showing her about a billion times did make the weekend a little more bearable.
