Didn't see the game mate so can't comment. I listed to the tail end on the radio driving home and they said you'd been good first half and crap the second? Was genuinely hoping we'd end up playing each other, preferably in Warsaw, that would have been immense
I got home for the pens. 1. every pen was good. Ba's was best. 2. Mingolet on every pen bar ba's (who waited for him and double stepped which i felt was illegal)dived right way. 3. Fair play to allen for stepping up 4. Fair play to lovern for stepping up. There was not much left was there? At least he had a go i suppose but really he blazed it In the end it looked like we did a decent controlling game for first half but it went to pish in second half but their goal was very good finish... so fair enough. Now theres no europa... have to pick ourselves up.
Every scored penalty is a good penalty. However, I didn't think Lallana's was great; perfect position for a keeper had he gone the right way. Got to be either finding the side netting or hitting it with power.
i agree on everton stuff.... lets see someone go do something here. spurs will be raging we ar eout seeing they threw there game
watch a recording tonight - if you need to sleep. Even IT4 gave up at one point and went to sleep. We weren't so much 'good' in the first half as they were dire, but Studge and Sterling tried to walk the ball into the net whenever we got a chance. says a lot that balotelli was our best forward.
Tonight he was poor but during Sturridge's injury and the poor form of Lambert and Balotelli the kid done well, carried the team on a few occasions, he might not sign a new contract but if he goes as rumoured to Real he'll end up with splinters in his arse due to the time he'd spend on the bench.
Anyway, you lot losing on penalties in issstaaaannnnnnnnbuuulllllll, who'd have thought it...... Saves all the 10 years later headlines tomorrow ffs.
Anyway, my ratings: Migs: 7 No chance with the goal and with any of the pens. Lovren; 6 Thought played okay-ish all night apart from a few wild, hollywood pass attempts, but really struggled with the others in the second half. Not as bad as Can in that position last week though. No comeback for the pen, but you should always hit the target in a shoot-out so at least the goalie has to save it. Skrtel: 6 Handled Ba far, far better tonight than at anfield, though his panicky reaction to that corner nearly put one on a plate for Ba at the end. Toure; 7 Give the old feller his due, he looked solid (especially in the first half) and deserves some credit. Ibe: 6 defensively sound in the first half, and when he did get forward occasionally he found the big pitch and wide open spaces of the Attaturk were lonely places when not one idle teammate can be arsed to support you. Moreno: 7 Played as a left back and was hard to fault him defensively, but squandered the ball a few times as the game went on. Allen: 5 Thought he was our best player in the first half. Overrun in the second (not his fault) and disappeared in ET. Can: 5 Swamped with allen in the second half and could hardly walk in ET. Some really wayward passing as the game drew on. leaden first touch, for a change. Sterling: 2 thought he could never be as bad as he was against Basel and Ludogrets away - I thought very wrong. never thought I'd see the little guy chicken out of challenges, but he damn well did tonight. Would you have taken Ibe off and left him on? balotelli: 6 Insane booking meant he spent the rest of the game on a knife edge and was leading candidate to taken off for a midfielder. pity, because he played better than Sterling and Studge combined. Sturridge: 4 Yes, he not yet fully-fit, blah, blah, blah (why leave him on in extra time if we were just playing for pens then, but take him off before the pens?). Criminal waste of essential chances in the first half. Just feed the ****ing ducks lad - there's no need to beat five men for every goal. Subs: lallana: 6 Looked lively, but everyone else was shattered by then. Should have been on ten minutes earlier. wasted two late free kicks. Lambert: 5 was he sent on just to take a pen, or was it to hold up the ball until non-existent support arrived. Mankiller; 4 Nothing wrong with the idea of sending him on (should have been done earlier) , but he looks shot of confidence, pace and ability right now. Brendan: 2 Dickhead. No problem with starting with two attackers ( and it should have yielded a goal that would have won the tie) but how the hell he didn't sub one of them before they scored is beyond credulity. team: 4 Defence tried manfully, but the rest couldn't control or pass the ball from the second half onwards. Abysmal.
