I haven't been to any of them, though you have confirmed by point, we don't feel the need to change their names to Hamburger SV, Köln FC or Bayern München FC, as that would simply make them inaccurate.
Actually I haven't confirmed your point. Unless you can link to newspaper reports and television commentaries which refer to them by the names I mentioned. Germans referring to FC Everton isn't incorrect really. That is down to their sentence construction. I suffered the worst 2 years of my school life doing German with a teacher who was brilliant at German,( he used to set papersfor Universities and was still under the official secrets act in the 1960s for his wartime work which was based on his abilities at different German dialects) but was a complete and utter nutter.

Tell you what does annoy me, when people refer to THE San Siro, as invariably 99% of UK media reports and commentators do. In Italy, when Milan fans incorrectly name it they say San Siro without the The. Nobody ever says The Anfield, The Old Trafford, The Villa Park.... Actually come to think of it they do say The KC Stadium and The Walkers Stadium as well. Why is that?
