Not really. Carrolls goals per game ratio is better I would imagine. I will let you boys check that though as you seem to like using Wikipedia.

3 and a half years younger and half the price and English. I'm still optimistic he will come good.

I'm struggling to get my head around this. Are spuds fans really trying to mock other teams signings? <laugh>

Comparing Lamela with Ozil is my personal favourite.

    Goodnight all.

I would still rather have Lamela than Carroll. Lamela is far younger, fitter, and is actually improving. The three legged donkey will huff and puff for a couple of games, then back for a nice rest on the treatment table for a few months.

Nobody knows why a player like Soldado, who was banging them in for fun in La Liga, can't hit a cow's arse over here. But, as has been said, he's still highly regarded in Spain. There have been many Wildly wide of the mark reports of what was paid for him. The upfront fee was apparently about £13mil. The rest was in performance related add ons, the vast majority of which have not been reached.

So you are saying you would prefer your £30M signing over our £15M one?

    Now there's a thing eh?

I don't believe the Soldado performance related transfer fee. That was just made up by some fans to hide the fact you signed one of the worst strikers in the league for £25M+

Whatever way you look at it, you completely squandered the Bale windfall.

    Poor old spuds. Bellends.

Punter: 'How much are those Hotdogs'

    Seller: '£5 mate'

Punter: '£5? That's a performance related Hotdog, I'll give you £3.50 now and £1.50 if it reaches it's full potential'

Seller: 'It's £5 or you can **** off'

    Punter: 'Oh, here's £5 then'

    A few minutes later ..........

Punter 'That Hotdog wasn't even worth £3.50 <grr>'

So, its make or break time for the spuds. The next 4 days will define their season.

Surely they won't crash out of Europe then lose the cup final in the same week will they?

I love the references to a Bale windfall, like we were just given a ton of money because he died or something.
We bought a young fullback with potential and turned him into one of the best attacking players in the world.
Arsenal, on the other hand, bought Ozil, who was a fantastic attacking midfielder and turned him into a **** winger.

Europe and cup finals: Two things that West Ham can only dream about.

The Bale profit was pure luck. A one off. Never to be repeated. Not that it matters because you spunked it all on a load of no-hopers anyway <laugh>

We've been to an FA cup final more recently that the spuds. We may well be in Europe next seasons either through league position or the fair play league so not exactly a distant dream. You need to research better before posting such bollocks.

Enjoy this season and next, because once you have to start selling the likes of Kane and Eriksen to fund your new stadium, this relative success you are enjoying at the moment will be a long forgotten.

I'm off to work. See you girls later.

The only embarrassment on this thread is a moron like you!...

Are you sure your user name isn't misspelt? Surely that first letter should be a "P" ?

Fair play <laugh>. Point is you haven't much recent experience of Europe, we can all guess where we will be in the fuure.

Why was the Bale money luck? We spotted him, we developed him, we told him he wasn't a left back and we negotiated his fee with Madrid. Arsenal pursued Walcott instead, it does come down to judgement in the end.

Getting Bale was luck, but Soldado was poor judgement - can't have it both ways.

Not sure Pochettino would have left Saints if we were going to have to sell everyone to pay for a stadium

Wasn't Bale almost sold to Birmingham before he decided to stay with the Spuds ? I think Levy was intending to let him go.

It's a rumour that Harry denies (I know, he would, wouldn't he). It's something I choose not to believe unless proven, but I understand you being of the opposite mindset though, as it suits your narrative better.

Spurs flop Gareth could Bale out in January as Birmingham boss Alex McLeish eyes £3m defender
    By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER
    UPDATED: 12:04, 21 October 2009

Forgotten: Bale is down the pecking order at Spurs
Alex McLeish is lining up a move for Tottenham defender Gareth Bale when the transfer window opens in January.
Birmingham manager McLeish will have around £40million at his disposal following Carson Yeung's takeover and, according to the Daily Mirror, will spend £3m on the Spurs left-back.
Wales international Bale has had a torrid time since arriving at White Hart Lane from Southampton two years ago and has made just one start in the Premier League this season.

According to the Mirror, Bale, who has only made on start for Harry Redknapp this season, will be allowed to leave White Hart Lane two years after former manager Martin Jol signed him for £5 million.
Having almost signed for Nottingham Forest this summer after an under par two seasons, Bale is likely to have dropped in value with £3 million a more likely price tag.

Former Tottenham coach Clive Allen says it could have been very different for Gareth Bale, as he was close to being sold during his early years with the club.
A permanent move to either Birmingham or Nottingham Forest was on the cards for the new Real Madrid player , but Allen says that it was Bale's decision to stay at Spurs and "fight" for his place.

I'm aware of the story, but because it's in the Mirror doesn't make it true. Harry Redknapp (when those stories came out) specifically said that it was untrue. Possibly a loan move was envisaged. Clive Allen (sadly) is bitter about losing his job with us, I'd rather trust the manager's recollection.

....and the point is? We're all aware he may well have left the club, but he didn't. End of pointless non-story...
