He had an excellent debut IMO. And already the Mail are speculating on a future for him somewhere else.

Newcastle, Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion and Hull are showing an interest in Darnell Furlong, the Daily Mail claim.
It comes after the full-back, 19, made his senior debut for QPR in their 2-1 defeat at Hull on Saturday.
It is claimed that Rangers face a ‘major battle’ to hold on to Furlong, who has been with them since the age of 10 and whose contract is up for renewal at the end of the season.
The Mail also suggest the situation is complicated because he is the son of former QPR forward Paul Furlong, who is the club’s Under-18s coach.

He looks like a player who we should want to keep, and who should want to stay much longer with us.

Lad looked good, but I’m not going to cream myself after one game. Hope he gets a proper chance to prove himself, and I think he could. This something that has been missing from the club for a long time now, think with Ramsey at the helm, and what he has been doing recently it must be a lot more encouraging for our youngsters to stay than under previous regimes

Surely we need to do all we can to keep our home-grown young players.

I agree completely - knowing that he's got a chance of playing here means that any potential suitors would have to guarantee him something more and, as a 19 year old who's only just made his debut, a Premiership starting place isn't something that is likely to be promised.

That means the only selling point is the development and progression side of things and if he's getting his chance here, he'd struggle to see what more development can be offered.

Also, CR doesn't seem to favour Vargas and Isla (just the impression I get) so there might well be places on our right hand side up for grabs in the Summer.

Furlong Sr being here can only help to keep him grounded too.

Thought Isla was still 1st choice and had a knock, however whether he will be here next season is another thing all together. Not going to lie I was slightly worried about the youngsters playing, mostly due to one of our 'most promising' youngsters, Hitchcock hardly setting the world alight since he has moved to a lower league, so glad from what we have seen so far that's not the case. I'm slightly concerned that I let Arry's words get in my head as well on that issue as well, is there a cure?

Furlong will be a good player for us in the championship next season if we can hang onto him now that he has a taste of Premiership football.

Talk about the vultures waiting to strip the carcass, it seems any young player we bring through is going to be targeted just like Sterling was all those years ago. Perhaps not having had any worthwhile youngsters in the past decade has been a blessing in one way...

Furlong had no excellent debut Ozzie. He had a good one alright but it was far from perfect. It was his eejitry that led to Barton's eejitry and down to 10 men. He also was too loose for their winner.

Plenty to work on but he certainly has potential.

Ok good then. But more than that considering it was his debut. He made a few mistakes but not as many as either Isla and Ned often make there, and he did a lot that was very good, and seemed comfortable and totally unphased by his new playground. Took a decent save in the top corner to stop him scoring too. Have to go back to Bosingwa for a much better performance than that from a QPR RB.

Everyone's favourite player, yes him Bos. But he still did better than anyone else we've had play there in a few years, even if he was only giving it 50%
