As the season progresses and we have up to 3 games a week, decisions will need to be made, players rested, risks taken. So......In which order would you like LFC to prioritise this season? I like to win everything but personally, if we got knocked out of the EL tomorrow, I wouldn't be too concerned.
Top 4, Europa and then FA Cup for me. Don't really care about the FA/CoC Cup at all tbh, but the Europa League win gets us more money and players in Europe would be more drawn to a Europa league win than an FA cup one.
Get into top 4, EL and anything else I couldn't care less. Focus is simply to get into the CL because the money will increase as a result of the BT package. And if we can prove that not only can we qualify for CL, but to do so in 2 consecutive seasons, will help attract players.
That's why I put Top 3, Europa, Top 4 If we come 4th and need to play a qualifier I'd prefer we'd got in by the Europa and picked up a trophy on the way
Just give me top 4. Only village idiots fail to qualify I here you about the EL. Right now the FA cup is very feasible....The EL is a bit more of a lottery. Get to the last 8 and I may change my mind
i am sorry but i will try not to insult anyone. FFS YOU NUMBSKULLS!!!! This is LFC not some little pissant club. At LFC we demand success we should not prioritise we should demand week in week out effrots to win the game. I think of clubs resting players i nthe FA cup earlier rounds going out and celebrating cos they can survive or the likes of Redknapp throwing the europa league group to focus on 4th. Teams that prioritize usually end up with a model of just a big enough squad but not quite big enough and an attitude of losing is ok. If LFC ever want to complete year in year out for the CL spots and then actually compete in said CL they have to be ready to do the business. Thus I am firmly of the opinion that I fully expect LFC to win each and every game outside of the top 4 we have left (8) I expect us to go to turkey and get at worst a draw and at best a quick away goal and control the tie. I expect us to put blackburn away and be in FA cup semi.
We'll win all of them. I think that's what MITO said aswell just with lots of capital letters and swearing.
With respect, what a load of bollocks. It's absolute folly to suggest that we shouldn't prioritise. Going gung-ho after everything is a sure fire way to win nothing. That's not to say that we shouldn't try our very best to win the games, it just means that asking players to play in Turkey on a Thursday then back home in a massive game on Sunday and then another must win game against a tough Burnley team on Wedensday is a big ask with the same set of players. Prioritising doesn't mean giving in ffs. But let me make this clear, everyone prioritises. They're no all wrong are they? It's impossible to compete effectively otherwise.
I would say the opposite, treat every game with the same attitude as the last and that's when you end up with doubles and trebles etc, prioritising is what gets you nothing imo. MITO is just looking for a bite though.
Same attitude yes, no question at all. Same personnel? Impossible imo. You'll end up with a broken squad. That changes when you get down to the business end of the season, assuming your first team are all not knocking on the physio's door. The key is having a strong enough squad to get you into that position, allowing you to rest key players....even in key games.
With rotation I think it is one or two players at the right time so that the core of the team is not affected.
Of course we should be winning every game. But whether we like or not, we're not a big club anymore. We have to earn that title. We don't have the squad quality/depth as the bigger clubs who can go out and win every single game. It's a long way away, but we're on track (at least we were on track) to getting back to the upper echelons. Until then, we need to prioritise on the most important competitions - basically, anything that gets us back in the CL.
My preference would be winning the EL. Only two things come above that; winning the PL and/or CL. Reality is somewhat different though. We're in the last sixteen (or is it thirty-two?) of the EL so it's still a bit of a lottery. Therefore we should be prioritising the bread and butter of the PL. That doesn't mean we should be playing a second strong in the EL either though.
