No your not not, you're being a nause when we are trying to discuss football. You and banksy have got your own arguing thread going on so why come here aswell?
Look fella, you've got 122 posts and 100 of them must be on our board. I had a bit of banter with you myself yesterday but you're taking it a bit far now. I'll be ignoring you from now on
Whispers from peopl who have got most of our transfer business right so far. The papers are also going with aswell. We got the whole Matt Mills deal done in 1 day so i think tommorow we will try and do the same with Maynard as for the next 3 weeks our team will either be in Sweden or Austria and we want our squad completed asap. Tommorow could be a very interesting day
If the club accepts then it will be up to Nicky and who knows what he's thinking? We've apparently offered him the best deal in BCFCs history but you may be able to blow that out of the water. If you do get him then fairplay and good luck, he might be the difference between promotion and not. All in all I'd love to see him stay but I'm not daft enough to not know that money talks, however I'm glad that we've stuck to our guns like we have to get the best deal possible. I think our board have done the right thing here playing hardball because Maynard really is the real deal.
I think you selling Maynard will make you better. Man for man with his replacement you might be worse but if you reinvest the money wisely you could have a stronger team and bettering you chances of going up
Can't argue with that, we've got Pitman and Stead who are more than capable, it's our defence that needs sorting out. Would still love to keep him though, shift some deadwood and have a real go. We'll see though, like you said, tomorrow could be interesting.
Looks like we're holding firm again - http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Bris...id-Leicester/story-12905188-detail/story.html Massive credit to Steve Lansdown BRISTOL City turned down an offer of nearly £5 million for star striker Nicky Maynard, according to sources at Ashton Gate. Championship rivals Leicester City see Maynard as the man to spearhead their push for promotion next season and have tabled three bids for the 24-year-old Cheshire-born forward. And the Evening Post has learned that Leicester's latest offer, made on Wednesday, totalled a massive £4.75m after add-ons. Leicester director of football Andrew Neville and manager Sven Goran Eriksson were today considering their next move and a new and improved bid is not out of the question. But City have stood firm so far and there seems little sign that their resolve will weaken and Maynard be sold to a rival Championship club. Given that the Robins announced a club-record annual deficit of £11.8m for the last financial year and expect to lose a similar amount this year, majority shareholder Steve Lansdown could have been excused for cashing in on City's most saleable asset, especially as Maynard is in the last year of his contract and is stalling on signing a new deal. In what can be seen as a clear statement of intent, City's major investor has instead demonstrated his commitment to winning promotion to the Premier League by resisting Leicester's advances. A source inside Ashton Gate said: "We have received three separate bids for Nicky and each one has seen an improvement of about half-a-million pounds on the amount to be paid up front. "The third offer was a substantial one and, once all the add-ons were taken into account, was worth £4.75m in total. "That is big money and other clubs in our situation might have been tempted. "But Steve Lansdown is committed to delivering Premier League football and is not in the business of selling our best players. "Leicester can keep coming back in with improved offers, but the answer will still be the same. We do not want to lose Nicky and we certainly do not want to sell to a rival Championship club." Unless a Premier League club shows an interest before the transfer window closes at the end of August, the situation will only change if the player himself decides he wants to leave Ashton Gate. It is understood Maynard has assured Robins manager Keith Millen he wants to stay and it seems the striker's agent is the driving force behind recent events. Aware that Maynard's value will decrease now that he is in the final year of his contract, City cannot afford for their prize asset to become a free agent and leave for nothing at the end of next season. Instead of selling, they are focussing their efforts on persuading Maynard to sign the new contract that has been on the table since the end of last season. Negotiations are continuing between City directors and Maynard's representatives and chairman Colin Sexstone is confident the striker, signed from Crewe Alexandra for £2.25m in July 2008, will commit his future to the club. There seems no doubt that Maynard has emerged as Leicester's main transfer target and former England manager Eriksson was hoping to tie up a deal before embarking upon a pre-season tour to Sweden on Sunday. ââ Leicester have agreed terms with Championship rivals Reading to sign defender Matt Mills for a fee believed to be more than £5m. The 24-year-old will now discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

I'm impressed by the stance our Board is taking. If the lad does go we can't change that but we'll get a good price for him. Couple of weeks ago my thread was asking for someone to offer a glimmer that Maynard might not go as I was convinced he would....still might but this is definitely the way for us to be doing business.
In my opinion we should drop our interest in NM and look elsewhere - We are in danger of being lured into offering way over his real market value and that will damage us as a club in future negotiations for other players
Real market value? Connor wickham has been sold for £9m (rising to 13m) and Andy Carroll for £35m recently. Nicky Maynard is an English striker who can score goals for fun and with the squad restrictions on foreign players in the prem has a great potential future. If he starts the season scoring goals and finds some form by Xmas the lower prem teams will be queuing up for some badly needed firepower. If he does sign a contract extension you will have underestimated his market value. To get him now £5m and a sell on would be fair in the circumstances.
