Always good to have a decider after winning one game each and what better way to have it than as a cup final.

Who do you guys think will replace Matic? I assume Mikel's the obvious choice but surely there are better players? You've got great options everywhere else in the squad to cover for injuries and suspensions but I've always thought Mikel was a weak link in your side. I guess that's him down to have a blinder now <laugh>

Will be interesting to see who goes to Italy and who starts, there's pros and cons for sending our best 11 out or resting them at home. I think we have to send the first choice out but Pochettino surprised me by rotating in the first leg so I'm not holding my breath. Memories of our 3-3 at Stamford Bridge come to mind when you talk about away trips to Europe on a Thursday catching up with us. We looked in control only to spend the second half blowing out of our arses messing up a 3-1(or was it 3-0?) lead. That was back when you flew back the following day and the approach behind football player's recovery was a lot less scientific though. Still, I'd rather have a week off like you guys though :(

I really cant see how you can play your first 11 away in Europe on the Thursday and then a highly competitive cup final 3 days later when we've had over a week off. I expect you'll go for the COC and play largely second team in Europe.

Could be wrong but we'll see.

I think he'll play Mikel or Ake and have Ramieres along side for extra cover.

It doesn't seem to matter how many changes we made for the Europa League earlier in the season, our results were mixed afterwards. Then again our results were mixed in general at that stage of the season anyway. Really it shouldn't be an excuse, players should be able to play twice in a week, especially with the effort put into reducing the effect on the body for the coming days. It's not ideal but we're a fit side so unless it goes to penalties on Thursday I think we should be okay for the majority of the match, at least. I'm more concerned with us putting in the right kind of performance than any tiredness, to be honest.

A decider? Your 1967 FA Cup Final win and 2008 League Cup Final wins against us puts you ahead of us. I'll settle for us beating you in the League Cup on Sunday and you winning the Europa Cup. Harry Kane Hurricane looks to be on fire at the moment but I'm hoping he'll be knackered for Sunday after exerting himself to score a hat-trick in the Europa League on Thursday. There couldn't be two better attacking teams to contest this Cup Final as far as I'm concerned.

I just meant it's a decider in terms of this season, Bristol.

It's a deal, we throw the League Cup and you get Abramovich to buy off teams so we win the Europa League :D

To be honest, I think we'll lose unless we're at our best, which we haven't been in the 3 games since Arsenal. Should be a good game though but unfortunately you can bet the referee's going to be at the centre of things given how bad they are :(

...YAY, it's a deal - you win the Europa League and we'll just settle for the League Cup, Premiership, and the European Cup.

I think on paper, this has the makings of the best league cup final in years, maybe even the best domestic final since Chelsea/United 2007 (though that turned into a bore fest for the neutrals!!).

Top team in England, v a Spurs side on a fair run of form, London derby, 2 sides that hate each other, 1 win each so far this season, 2 of the top strikers this season in Kane and Costa etc.

Can anyone think of a better final in the last few years??

I'm going 2-1, just not sure which way yet!

Just like it is in the majority of cup finals, surely? Just not quite sure why you felt you had to come on here and say it Tobes.

Not really. The FA Cup is watched by most, but this one is a nothing competition really, especially to an oil club like yours, surely?

A nice day out and all that, but I'd have thought you'd have been a tad non plussed about the whole thing.

Granted it's nowhere near the level of the FA Cup but I still love us winning any trophy, especially against Spurs. I mean aside from the fact it's a cup final, it's a derby for both Chelsea/Spurs.

Yeah I suppose the Spurs factor gives it an edge.

A massive edge to be honest. We don't have a good cup final record against them and the fans at least will want some revenge for the 5-3 earlier in the season and the 2008 final.

As I said above, the way the domestic cups have gone in recent years (i.e the top clubs caring less about them) has meant we haven't had many decent cup finals in recent times. A big London derby makes this one of the better ones of late as opposed to good P.L side v poor premier league side / lower league side.
