http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...n-change-end/story-26077683-detail/story.html Hull City to FA: ‘Don’t mention the name change until end of season’ By Hull Daily Mail | Posted: February 25, 2015 please log in to view this image FOCUSED ON STAYING UP: Hull City owners Ehab, left, and Assem Allam want the FA to delay announcing their name change decision until the end of the season. Hull City have asked the Football Association to postpone announcing a verdict in the name change arbitration case until the end of the season, the Mail understands. City owners Assem and Ehab Allam are currently challenging the FA Council's ruling that rejected their contraversial application for the club to become known as Hull Tigers last April. The protracted arbitration process was expected to conclude with a decision due this week, but now supporters may not learn the findings of the independent panel until the summer. With City's Premier League fate in the balance with 12 games of the season remaining, the club's board have indicated their preference is for the verdict not to be published until May. Unlike last season, when the original name change application was voted upon days before the FA Cup semi-final with Sheffield United, a delay would ensure distractions are kept to a minimum for Steve Bruce's side as they bid to pull further clear of the relegation fight. It remains to be seen if the FA will accept City's preference for a judgement to come at the end of the season, but they have previously demonstrated flexibility when pushing back the hearing date in London to this month, avoiding a clash with the hectic January transfer window. Assem Allam made it clear when launching the legal challenge in September that he would be unwilling to continue as owner if he could not become Hull Tigers. The club has technically been up for sale since the FA Council rejected the application on April 9, but no buyer has yet been found. An arbitration "under Rule K of the Rules and Regulations of the FA to challenge the decision of the FA Council" started in September and that brought a hearing in London two weeks ago. A confidentiality clause prevents City and the FA discussing the issue until a verdict has been announced. The governing body was contacted by the Mail yesterday, but they were unable to offer any updates at this stage.
That explains the delays then. It's logical in a way, but frustrating that it's gonna keep going on and on.
Or........ is this actually sensible on the allams part, given he's not dropping it asking to delay til the end of the season means there's not goingto be anything ddistracting from our attempt to stay up, he'snot going to come out mid season aand say I'm selling no more money when he getstold no, allows everyone to focus on staying up
In an attempt to avoid any critisism in the closed season. As the club will be at It's busiest term. Good tactic
It's really time for this slow death to be put out of it's misery, dragging it out for another three months really helps no-one. I suspect they already know what the outcome will be and are simply buying themselves some time.
Bollox - he's already said he's selling - he's already said no more money - he doesn't want mocking at every game because the FA has said no - all he has to do is withdraw the application now and he comes away with some respect and we all move on
Can he withdraw? I thought the panel met a couple of weeks back? Doesn't that mean the decision is made?
Reading between the lines the decision has been made and we'll remain Hull City next season. The arbitration panel cannot change the FA's vote it can only comment on the process. In practice that means it will be referred back to the FA to reconsider if they found the process unfair. The name change application would be on the agenda at the April Council meeting if the panel came down in Assem Allam's favour. The FA is not likely to vote for Hull Tigers without first publishing the panel's decision.
Given the current position pending the appeal verdict is we're currently Hull City, the club's lack of use of that name doesn't bode well for the future. It makes the initial FA decision look impotent.
A battle for another day. If we are Hull City next season the club may have a re-think about how they use our name. I always live in hope.
Reading between the lines, they're going to allow the appeal, so the owners, sensitive to a sensitive minority have decided they'd rather have the whining and crying about it after the seasons ended so there are no distractions. You lot should be grateful and have a break from the angst. Just spend the rest of the season supporting the club. He does love you after all. Wonder if this is linked to the KC. Interesting times.
Or the 3rd option is that he knows its a no and has a buyer lined up who only wants HCAFC if /when Prem is there for 2015/6 so that when the deicision actually comes he can just say 'fine i'm off' as he said he would.
To me it's cut and dried, simply because both The FA and the Allam's will have already been informed of the decision, and if that decision was a positive one for AA then Hull City (the club) would have no reason to ask for the announcement to be held back until the end of the season. This is simply jockeying for position by the Allam's and who can blame them, they will obviously want our place in the PL secured as that will attract the maximum number of potential buyers, I just hope that the eventual new owner is not a Randy Lerner-a-like. Some people should be careful what they wish for.
To be honest I don't think its a bad idea (unless there is an ulterior motive), put the name change on the back-burner and lets really get behind the team as one group of supporters as opposed to bickering and booing each other.
He knows he can say what he likes in the summer because we're not there to say anything back! Unless the fail help us out? Which I doubt!
