Was hoping for one... don't care about Carling... so he could play at West Ham and we could rotate more players, especially as Hammers play 30 hours before us

    Shows what I know <laugh>

I think the FA have made a right mess of things here, there's going to be appeals for every sending from now on with clubs claiming the contact wasn't that bad. They'd have been better off just sticking to the 3 game ban as they're continually hiding behind their rule book when it comes to not punishing incidents that really deserve it(Connor McManaman, Ashley Barnes, etc) and now they seem to be changing their own rules on bans as it suits them. I think they need to clarify things very quickly or they'll look even more incompetent then usual.

    Agree to an extent.
They should have stuck to three or rescinded completely. This is very half arsed.

Probably the worst response. A wimper rather than any convincing statement by the FA. Stick to it or rescind the ban.

Exactly, either stand by your rules and stick with 3 games
or admit your rules are a shower of ****, rescind the card and review the rules.

    What they did was just.......meh!

They won`t review the rules mid-season Bod, i think this is as much of an admission of fault as you could ever hope for. Let`s hope next season see`s some rules that suit the game better <ok>

Aye, I suppose we shouldn't complain too much, he did get one game knocked off.
I am more bothered by Barnes getting off scot free to be honest.
I was willing to accept Matic's ban because whether you think he justified or not, he lay hands on a player, which, again under their rules, is classed as violent conduct, so fair enough.

But just letting Barnes get off without so much as a booking, and Steve Greaves backing ALL of Atkinsons decisions, despite pretty much EVERYONE involved in the game, from fans, to managers, pundits, etc knows how much of an incompetent performance that was.

    Did you see Greaves Report:

    Minute

30 For me, NOT kmi (Key match incident) -but would appreciate your take on this…. Barnes jump challenge with Ivanovic

32 Potential penalty decision-Handball against Kightly, not given. In my opinion, a correct decision as ball hit with pace from close range and didn'’t see it as deliberate.

42 Potential penalty decision-Foul on Costa, not given (Dammed if he gives it, damned if he don’t!!) For me, both in real time and on dvd my opinion is that Costa is looking to go down as soon as contact is made. However, Shackell does put his hands on him so appreciate your thoughts!! Also to note, ref can’t actually see Shackell’s hands on Costa.

70 Challenge by Barnes on Matic, nothing given – for me correct. In super slow mo it obviously looks awful, but in real time live and dvd Barnes catches him as follow through from the challenge. (Does Barnes mean to harm him?-only he knows) Also, looks worse because Matic has his foot planted…

    70 Straight red-Matic retaliation, correct.

73 Potential penalty decision-Handball against Luis, not given. In my opinion, also not deliberate so correct

    What absolute bullshit!!!!
When yesterday Chief referee Keith Hackett labelled Atkinsons performance as "totally incompetent".

One would hope Mr. Greaves is looking for a new job along with Mr. Atkinson. Perhaps something with the Blind Dogs Association might suit?
