    Here's my letter......

    Dear Premier League,

In view of the staggering amount of money that will be paid to your organisation over the next few years from various broadcasters, I thought I would use
this opportunity to request some financial assistance.

I would very much like to build an extension on my house but alas lack the funds to do so.

Would you consider lending me £100,000 (repayments to be negotiated) or even better gifting the amount.

I do hope you can help.

There are loads of conflicting reports regarding the Liberty. Huw Jenkins (Swansea Chairman) is stated in the media as saying buying the stadium outright is an absolute non starter due to £32m price tag. Other reports are that they are buying, who to believe really.

Ha,ha,ha. We can't fill a 25000 stadium so how are we going to fill a 50000 one

i think they should expand the pitch instead - a 30% larger playing surface . . . and jumpers for goalposts

It is fairly obvious if you think about it.

I'm with you on this, I think it is no more than the opening gambit of a new strategy to move both parties aspirations forward. Allam must be expecting to be knocked back by the FA and needs to commence his exit strategy; a strategy that is impaired by the constraints of the KC Stadium lease.
The council have now exhausted the first point of reference for funding, the super-rich PL who many would have said should cough up - they would have been wrong and the council knew it was a pointless question, except in terms of having asked it and put it behind them.
I believe we will see some things unfold between now and the summer that will surprise us all. I think that will be a new owner, who, under the current terms would have to/be allowed to adopt the lease, but it also opens the door for fresh arrangements if all are in agreement.
Stupid it is not and I honestly believe it stupid to think that; if someone believes this has been done on a whim, without real background planning and consideration, after all that has gone on, then you must be a tad daft; especially when they have deliberately allowed the local rag full access to it.

I'm sure he will do everything within his means to reassert his position at the top of that particular pile. <ok>

You think the best manner in which to make it clear there was an opportunity to expand the KC, was to send an embarrassing and utterly pointless letter to the Premier League?

I'd suggest it would have been easier to just announce that if the current owner, or any future owner, wanted to expand the KC, they'd do all they could to facilitate it.

Why don't the Allams do what they tried before and approach a bunch of banks (including the council's bankers <doh> ) to borrow £100M and then offer HCC £600K to buy the stadium?

Exactly. I dont see what all these "I see a deal and how things are coming together posts are on about." The council are desperate and ****ing clueless and a tad snide in doing this.
First thing they should do is hang Geraghty out to dry for the bent **** he is, then you may see some movement from the Allams.

I think that's the one thing that would get him talking to them again, it's what he's been after all long.

It's bizarre, but comes across that they must have done it for some reason. Even HCC can't be daft enough to really think this letter was a good idea. They've never seemed interested in a stadium expansion anyway. This sudden and deliberate leak must have some reasoning behind it as Fez says, but what that is, **** knows.

I didn't read everything but I can't see why everyone got so upset that the council took the initiative to ask the PL for money to expand the stadium.

They just signed a deal to get a massive windfall. If you don't ask you don't get. Ok, so we didn't get but they may have turned around and said oh aye we can fund that as part of a new community initiative to give more people the chance to see top flight football.

I don't see why its embarrassing. Are we embarrassed that we tried to sign Aaron Lennon but he didn't want to come? Again we asked but didn't get.

The FA have just a secured a deal giving all Premier League clubs over £100m each and you think they might seriously entertain giving us money on top because we don't want to use any of it to expand our stadium?

    Seriously?
