Would be good fun if red bull bought us. Half time x games entertainment, Only buy strikers who do somersault celebrations, bring Carlos 'the scorpion' Valderamma out of retirement.

There is no 'we'. It is Mike Ashley Sports Holdings Limited which made that profit.

The 'we' are only customers of his product and are locked in by insanity and misplaced loyalty as much as the dribbling beardie Apple fanbois are locked into the Jesusphones.

It's not a football club any more. What people are paying to watch each week is for eleven players to model the latest range of Sports Direct goods.

Last count it was £111m outstanding. I agree, the thought from SJH was probably that the success of the team was on MA's agenda. I reckon SJH thought Ashley would be after Champions League success.....wow, how wrong do you want to get it?!

Dude, Rene Higuita was the scorpion guy. Valderamma was he of the MASSIVE hair.

In last years accounts the loan still stood at 129 million quid. We only made 10 million profit so I doubt it is much less than this. We should know this week.

£129m debt and none has been repaid (unless they have done and haven't made it public). I would guess there could be as much as £70m in the bank in cash at the end of this season though, then net player trading over the summer to be taken into account going into next season. I think Ashley won't repay the loan in piecemeal, but rather is stockpiling the cash to repay it all in one go. I think the earliest this will happen is after the end of next season if he can flog another player (beyond Sissoko) for big money. All speculation of course and when the accounts are released we will learn a bit more. The key number to look out for for me is 'Cash at Bank' (possibly could be put into investments I suppose) and if it hasn't increased significantly from the £11m last year after an extra £30m in TV money and £20m from the sale of Cabaye then something sneaky is going on IMO.

If it hasn't increased then what could have happened is that the board could have recommended a large dividend payout to the shareholders.

Why would Ashley sell? It's not often one gets an advertising company pay you millions to advertise your goods? He'd be mad to sell.

A dividend comes off the balance sheet not the P/L. You report your P/L then you move any retained P/L to the balance sheet in the following year. A dividend still needs to be recorded on the balance sheet as a reduction in retained P/L. The things to look out for on the P/L would be stuff like ridiculous management consultancy fees paid to a company like MA Consulting, WAATP Management Ltd etc

As of the last financial year end he had repaid £11 million. He also gets free advertsing but doesn't charge interest on the outstanding £130 million, which I think is a pretty good deadl.

There were no related party transactions on the last accounts. The notion that MA is creaming money out of the club is unproven and pretty unlikely.

That he is running the club at a profit so as to be able to take money out of it at a time which is advantageous to MA is, on the other had, almost certainly true.

As for relegation, 3 points from the remaining 12 will see us safe. I can't see us failing to get them.

There is one scary thought - Ashley may never sell. He could be owner until the day he dies.

Ashley got in before the PL spiralled upwards. He'll get out just before it spirals downwards. If the latter never happens, yes, he's here for life.

That's the one thing I cling to; that football is like any other business boom. The PL will crumble one day and Ashley will bail out. The trouble is, what will the club be like when he does? We have regressed so much off the pitch that we are actually behind Southampton in terms of stature.

Fortunatley im only 27 and i consider myself to be reasonably healthy (touch wood) i very much doubt a man the stature of Mike Ashley with his BMI will ever out live me. luckily enough he doesnt have a Son waiting in the wings, imagine the relief, to then have another 50 years of being his sons play toy!

I dont think any one could predict when he will leave, he will be here until someone comes in with enough money to buy the club. if anyone says the clubs not for sale, its a lie, its for sale to anyone who offers the right amount of money.

I suspect that if he were to sell he'd want - The money he paid + his loan + the cost of buying the club shop back off him + the cost to him of having to pay for advertising + a profit. In other words - a lot of money.

We have a good record against Villa so I think we'll win. Most likely we will make very hard work of it though.
