Came across this randomly on Youtube. Like all other YouTubes vids, this makes him look like a world beater while he was at Spurs. Can't say we've seen much of that shooting ability in evidence while he's been wearing our shirt. What is interesting though is the snippets of pundits at the beginning of the clip comparing his abilities to Hoddle. **** that ****. A quick look at the genius in action makes that comparison look absolutely ridiculous.
He plays for Hull City not Barcelona ffs! He's obviously going to have his limitations or else he wouldn't play for us. What a stupid post.
There were calls for him to be going to the World Cup before last summer largely based on our thumping of Fulham.
Leave him alone! the thread isn't called for, we've taken 7 points from 9 and are hopefully on the up!
I'm sure if we can have topics about ball boys and Jermaine Jenas's punditry, it's ok to have one about our so called most skillful player and his drop in form since December 2013.
By City fans only. The same City fans who are desperate for the media to recognise the club all the time. Huddlestone wasn't good enough to get any more caps for England while he was playing in a top 4 Spurs team alongside the likes of Modric & Defoe etc. There isn't a cat in hells chance of him booting out the likes of Henderson while he's at City.
He plays 20 yards deeper for us so he doesn't attack the space on the edge of the box in the same way that he does in those clips. When he shoots for us it always seems to be at the end of a dribble or at least after a few touches whilst the Spurs ones he hit with his first or second touch. Less time to think, less time to get it wrong. Both Huddlestone and Livermore rarely seem to hit the target.
No. He's a decent player at this level. And I'm happy he's ours. I said he's not good enough to play for England. And i said that last season. I also said he's got his limitations, which all players in teams of our stature have.
What would you be saying if we were bottom? We're playing ok! I wouldn't say great! But I just don't think his display on sat warrants this topic! But as we all say " it's all about opinions "
This is nothing to do with 7 points out of 9 in the last 3 matches, or his "OK" performance on Saturday. Like I said, I came across this randomly from the "Recommended for you" part in YouTube, and it just reminded me how much his career has gone off the rails. We were told his lack of appearances for Spurs was nothing to do with a drop in form but the fact that he didn't put in a proper shift up to AVB's liking. And yes we do get occasional glimpses of his ability but at the age of 28 where he should be at the height of his powers, and told in the media by Bruce that his weight is less than it was last season, he should be making far more impact on matches than he does.
Disagree. From what I remember it was mostly people outside of City who saw us doing well and assumed Huddlestone was the linchpin and picked him out as a potential England midfielder. Most City fans thought he wasn't consistent enough and wanted to see Davies get a call-up, as he was consistently brilliant all last season.
None of us are privvy to what is said before the players go out onto the pitch! But I can imagine Bruce telling tom to sit deep, Because this is what he does! If Bruce wants him playing further up the pitch and he's not doing as he's told! We'd know about it!
We paid what, 5 mill for him? He has been worth every penny so yes he is all that as far as I am concerned.
If he was as good as Hoddle he'd be playing for a top four side or a top team abroad and would have cost 10 times what we paid for him. I think people's expectations of him at times are a bit unrealistic in a team at our level. If he was surrounded by players of a higher calibre, it would probably bring out the best in him but he's not the type of player who excels in a struggling team. He looks like he's starting to find his form again and hopefully if he does, along with one or two others (Livermore particularly), we might just be able to have a decent run in.
Hoddle was ridiculously good - definitely one of the three most gifted English players in the 35 years or so I can comment on (along with Gazza and Le Tissier).
