Sorry but that is absolute bollocks. You need the assistant and ref to do their job to beat teams like west brom. A team that doesn't score many goals has a goal disallowed and the oppo get away with a professional foul from their best defender then set up 11men defence second half? How many do you expect to win by?
Well the fact that we're a team that doesn't score many goals is a problem for us and needs to be resolved. Simple as that. We have the ability, we are just clueless and unambitious in attack. That professional foul was barely a foul, he barely touched him and the ball was going straight to the keeper. The goal was unfortunate. We should be good enough to put two or three past a few fellow relegation candidates at home because lord knows some of them will against us.
Make sure we stay up this season because we'll romp to the title next year on offside goals, favourable handballs, opposition reds for coughing while our players are allowed to act like Isis.
Don't see how the ref can decide it only warrented a yellow when just 5 seconds earlier he was waving 'play on' and telling Graham to get up. It was the lino who called the foul. Surely then he should have been consulted over the colour of the card. It happens a couple of times a game as far as I can tell. Perhaps someone at the club could put a DVD together (ala Pulis) of all the appalling verging on biased decisions at SoL this year from the countries so-called best refs.
Does that Jeff Winter or anybody else still do that alternative league table when taking bad refereering into account? I'd like to see where we would be in that table!
You contradict yourself in that disco. The pure fact that we don't score many means we need the referee and assistant to uphold the rules when we do score a perfectly good goal or when we have a player fouled when through on goal. If we were a team that should be good enough we wouldn't be bottom 5 in the league. I agree totally with the sentiments but history shows we are not good enough. We should be but we aren't. And when we do score one and it doesn't stand then the likelihood is we are not going to s ore again It's not like we are asking for a 50/50. We are asking for the rules to be adhered to! If the lescott one is a foul it HAS to be a red card according to the rules... But not against Sunderland
The fact that so many referees are ballsing up big decisions for us. We rarely get a decision at home? It's beyond coincidence for me.
I don't Marcus contradict myself in the slightest. I know we need the referee, I said we shouldn't need the referee. If I was Gus or the team, instead of blaming referee's, I'd be making sure of improvement so that we in fact don't need the referees. If we are good enough to score one, we're good enough to score another. You may not think we should be better than that but I do. We have a very decent squad that is criminally under performing. It's either that or complain all the way to the championship. Complain or take action to improve. Simple really. I wouldn't have given the foul on Graham to be honest so I think the referee did us a favour in booking the lad and giving the foul.
-------------------Pants--------------- Revelliere - Brown - O'Shea - PVA -------------Catts - Larsson---------- AJ - -----------Giack -------- Alvarez ----------------Defoe----------------- That team should be good enough to score more than one goal at home against another relegation candidate.
Hey Disco, I agree that we shouldn't need the referee but we shouldn't need to score one and have an appalling decision so that the game is then on a level playing field is the point.
The problem at the moment is the players also probably don't think anything is going our way so when there are 2 bad decisions in the game it gets them down too. The first one I am not 100% sure on but the 2nd was a goal all day long. If the officials cannot get it right technology should be bought in. Look at Southampton today a definite pen not given, it was a stone waller, the ref should be dropped for that.
Games are often on a knife's edge where a single decision make the entire difference. With a struggling team that can be critical as it was with Hull - QPR yesterday. It's happened too often this season to simply be swings & roundabouts.
I don't buy into vendetta's against you lot, but I think ref's standards are dropping week on week. I'd imagine they suffer, just like the players do whereby their confidence gets shot to bits after a few mistakes and it just spirals beyond their control. We can all offer a solution to this problem. What needs to be done in the interim before vid-tech, is that teams need to be prepared for in-game injustice. Mourinho's Chelsea for example seem to implode more often than not when a decision goes against them. This is certainly not going away any time soon so training players to deal with this in the interim is the only way to do it.
Just watched the EPL highlights over here as missed our game, it wasn't,t just us who got hard done by, saw at least 5 more stonewallers not given, surely got to be a refereeing directive from above
