I wonder if all of our scouts are watching this game in prep for the summer window.

Was about to say, see who has a good game and they'll be in our squad next summer for an overinflated price no doubt

Clyne for sure.. huge pace and power... not much else about him but huge drive there... perfect player for koeman.

wanyama is the same... power player.

Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Clyne - all 3 would get into our first team.

Wanyama would be the biggest signing - perfect for the DM role to allow Henderson or whoever partners him to to roam forward.

  8. Can you imagine the **** we'd get if we went and bought three more Southampton players this summer <laugh>

I wouldn't mind if it were these 3! These are ones we should have signed instead of the other set of dross!

But agreed - these 3 would cost at least another £50m.

  10. We don't need a RB though, we've got Flanno and Mankiller as back-up ;)

Plus we don't play with FBs anymore too <whistle>

    Lol.

Clyne is a quality full back, but he's better suited to wing back than Flanno/Manquillo...

he's a bit of an english donkey :bandit:

actually he is not much more than legging it up and down like a work horse... IMO if we are going to ruin a winger for this role we may as well keep ibe and markovic out there cos either one will have more end product thatn clyne.

Now if you want to talk about clyne at RCB in this set up sure why not.. it might suit well.

I think perosnally... Wisdom in for can at RCB (potentially) Can to CM beside henderson and then spend the money we have on what we do not have in the squad... namely that top top CM and top top striker

I'm all for the younger players finding their way out wide or in the defence.

    ?? doubt it <whistle>

clyne is a runner.. he's not for me. let utd have him to pound up and down thier right side and donkey balls at felliani.

wanyama is a powerful player but is he good enough? schneiderlin? meh.... let arsenal have him or spurs or whoever... we've henderson and can to come and we need a top top midfielder like this roma lad who's not 60mil or so...

  14. I was obviously taking the piss with my "Plus we don't play with FBs anymore too" comment above. Its true at present but we're not going to play with three at the back forever. It is only a matter of time before someone takes advantage of the systems cons.

Are Flanno and Mankiller good enough for RB in a back four? Defensively I think they both are but offensive there are question marks. IMO, they are too similar. Johnson (on his day back in 2006) was as ideal attacking FB option. We don't have that on the right unless we play Marko, Ibe or even Sterling (played there a few times for us) out there, none of which are ideal in a back four.

We have more pressing areas of concern before RB though <ok>

Wanyama is one of the best DM's in the league. Very talented and his passing is a little underrated. Completely bossed our midfield 2, and always has.

Can and Henderson can't play in a two IMO - both have the urge to bomb forward. We need a DM who will allow Hendo/Can to go forward. And if Can moves into midfield, he would easily take Henderson's place.

Schneiderlin is quality also - again, better than Henderson.

I'm a big fan of Clyne - physically ticks all the boxes but he's very good defensively.

Agree with Gez that Manquillo and Flanno are similar but Manq is younger, less injury prone and is already better (IMO) so I would keep him.

If we stick with a back 3, I would like to see Sakho, Ilori and Wisdom develop. Think there is a lot of potential.

If we wish to buy defenders, then Hoewdes as the sweeper and Schar as RCB.

Not a fan of Clyne. Think he's ok but nothing special. Just another youngish english player who saints would want 15m min for and much better spending that money on a proper CM and play Flanno/Manquillo/Wisdom there or ibe/markovic if sticking with wingbacks

Oh yeah, he wouldn't be a priority for me.

However, if we persist with wing backs, then we only really have Markovic and Ibe. Ibe is certainly suited to that role and I would rather Markovic pushed further up field.

Flanno and Manquillo are right backs, and provide us with good options if we want to revert back to back 4.

Or they could play there of looking to be more defensive.

Saw yesterday that we reverted to a back 5 at times when defending and those 2 defenders could easily play that role.

Nice to to have the Options of some players who can defend and some who can attack depending on the team we are playing.

Not ot many who are as good going forward as they are defensively.
