I'm actually more worried about this game than City next week. This is the type of game where experienced players like Gerrard and Lucas are vital.

Defence will need to be on top of its game because from the five games besiktas have played against english opposition, slaven billic has had them really organised and difficult to break down. I'm expecting another really tight game

I would like to see a front three of Sturridge, Sterling and Balotelli.
It will be tight, but hopefully we have enough to get through

  6. No way we'll go with (or should be going with) two strikers in an tight away European tour.

Having said that, if we get one, they need three!

It would make sense to rotate some players here, something like this...........

    ---------------------------Mingo---------------------
    ---------------Toure--Skrtel--Can---------------
    Manquillo--------------------------------Moreno
    -----------------Lallana--------Hendo-----------
    --------------Markovic-----------Coutinho-----
    ---------------------------Studge-------------------

I'm thinking Lallana playing a bit deeper will give us his energy and workrate, it's not working for him further forward I'm wondering if a change of role may work for him.

it makes no sense at all to rotate anyone cos this is a bloody hard game coming up...

IMO an away game in turkey for our team is about as tough as going to real madrid... we lost there against a team not bothered... this time the team we play will be bothered so i think we need an away goal big time.

I'd like to know if sahko is fit or not firt then I'd see.

I see no reason not to return to the regualr back 3 of last games if he is fit... If not is see no reason whatsoever to drop lovern just cos... thats how we end up back at square one... the guy is just after getting a few subs and one game... why drop him... cos you've got soemthing against him? skertl would be taost then yeah?

same for sticking llanana in at cm... thats a bit mad in an away european game!

no for me the same team has to play including ibe as he gives them something to worry about.

    ----------- Mignolet
    ----- Lovren --- Skrtel --- Can
    Ibe -- Henderson -- Allen -- Moreno
    --- Sterling -- Surridge -- Lallana

Any news on Lucas/Gerrard? Playing Thursday and then again on Sunday against City is going to be painful and I'd love to know that we have CM reinforcements at the ready for the weekend. Think it may be a tad early for both though.

After seeing lallana be totally ineffective in my mind n both last two games the only change i'd make is retain coutinho for an hour in this game and look at him being the guy to come off for lallana or indeed balotelli as the need arises.

I think personally our ideal would be to hit this lot on the break and get the away goal then defend like mad...

I think he has the energy to do it and will do a better job than Allen, imo we have to rotate some of the players so that we can get 3 points v City.

If Sakho's fit, back three of him, Skrtel and Lovren to start, shift Can into mid, if it's not working bring off Lovren or Sakho and shift Can back

When's Gerrard back?? If he's fit I'd play him Thursday and have him on the bench for City

    Demba Ba got injured

No chance to playing Lallana in CM. He would be awful. Dwells far too much on the ball and would slow down the attacks, would be too eager to press and ultimately vacate space, and is easily turned.

Allen is far better in that role and is showing some good form.
