Ignoring the potential hand ball incident, I like how he actually comes out protecting the area behind our defense. He also seems to be coming for stuff, even if a bit flappy at times, but he is a changed man.

Thanks for that. Now I'm wondering if Mignolet's 'O face' is the same as his 'punch/flap face'??

That's it. At least he is coming for the ball, covering the defence whereas before he was almost glued to the line. Its no coincidence that the defence has also looked better, they can now see Mings coming out for the ball if the do make a mistake or get get caught underneath, means they can be more positive in what balls the go for.

What a weird game football is. I'd written Migs off. Now, as with our defence, he has totally turned things around. The two are very much connected but you have to give the guy credit where it's due. He's saved us points recently instead of costing them so am pleased for us and him. That said, his distribution is still diabolical. Let's hope he doesn't have a clanger anytime soon that would see the return of the bad Migs <yikes>

His distribution is still awful so I stand by my statement that he's not the right keeper for what BR wants, but he's stuck to worrying about what he does best, and he is an excellent shot stopper, and his decision making has been a lot more instinctive lately. I'd completely written him off two months ago but I am glad to be proved wrong.

I agree... but the lad is trying a bit again. I'd upgrade him from complete numpty to useful reserve..

no seriously... he has done a lot better but I'd rather review in terms of the whole season by the end and see.

Peopel held the first half of reina's last year agaisnt him as a reason to sell and steadfastly refused to see his improved form but then... reina was forced out so it was convenient for them.

If minger is replaced in the summer people will forget this effort of his and focus on the before Christmas poor form... if we buy no-one then they'll refuse to remember before christmas and focus totally on 45 away clean sheets <ok>

Even I have to admit that he was excellent against Southampton. Especially with his handling on the edge of the box and the following sweeper-keeper charge up the pitch. He is getting better., here's hoping.

I hope he's turned a corner, but I have a bad feeling this may just be temporary form, aided by having 3 CBs in front of him. But if he stays like this, then there's no real need to replace him this summer (still need a good backup though)

Simon: It was hard, but a positive for me
Simon Mignolet admits his spell out of the first team in December was difficult, but the Liverpool goalkeeper also labels it a beneficial experience.
The Belgian was named on the bench for the Reds' trip to Manchester United before the festive period, and remained as a substitute for the subsequent matches with Bournemouth, Arsenal and Burnley as Brad Jones started between the sticks.
However, the Australian sustained an injury in the first half of the Boxing Day visit to Turf Moor, giving Mignolet an opportunity to restate his claims.
Speaking openly with Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood, the 26-year-old explained how retaining a positive and determined attitude proved key in revitalising his season.
Mignolet has paid tribute to the support received from his fiancé, Jasmien, who urged him to stop 'overthinking' situations and play his natural game.
The stopper is also eager to highlight the help from those at the club's training base.
Recalling his spell out of the team, Mignolet said: "I look back to it only in a positive way. That's what I did when it happened. I told myself I could do two things; let my head drop or work hard and come back stronger.
"I am happy with how I reacted in that sense. I am happy I kept my head down and worked hard in training. I didn't speak to the outside world, I just kept doing what I can do.
"It's something positive to look back on, it was a new experience. The older you get, experience you get and through these kind of situations, you only come back stronger and more positive.
"It wasn't easy, but the manager, the coaches, everyone at the ground and the players helped me with it, so it's big credit to them as well for giving me their support. They helped me out and made sure I could do that [get back into the team].
"I didn't only have my fiancé at the time, but also people who work at the ground [Melwood] - they always kept believing in me. Then it was up to me to do it on the pitch and change things.
"We're very pleased with how things have turned around, but I am not one who wants to think about that. I am looking forward and I know that I have to keep doing what I am doing and playing how I am at the moment because things will otherwise be forgotten very quickly.
"That's how football goes - you're only remembered for your last performance. That's why I keep working hard in training and try to keep improving my game. Any stage of your career you can still improve and hard work will pay off in the end."

I don't stand on him because that would be impolite.
