Sorry to report that he is still as useless as a chocolate teapot. Yes the defence has started to take the load off him, but this does not mean that he has improved. There was a telling bit of action in the Palace game where the ball came over the top and bounced on the 6 yard line, and he stayed on his line, the palace player hit it, and Migs stopped it with his legs, luckily. However the whole situation should have been dealt with by migs coming and taking the ball before the palace player got to it.
Yes he made a flashy save, but if he had missed it, it would have been 2-2, and maybe worse. The fact that he was lucky should not distract from his failure to command his area like a proper goalie.
He has to thank Can for his current image improvement, and Rodgers, but when he was really bad, it was when he was making an attempt to improve, and to come for stuff, but making all the wrong choices, as it is not natural for him. Now that the defence is much better, he is back to staying on his line. So he has gotten no better, and has in fact gone backwards. We need a goalie that knows when to come out and clean things before they get dangerous, and not to stick to his net, like a hermit crab sticks to his shell. He has to go, he doesn't have all the basic skills for the job, and he is too old to change now.

Did you not see the game Saturday? He won everything that came in to the box.

Yeah I think you're being a bit harsh on Migs to be fair - he is coming for most balls now which is positive, and his shot stopping is back to its best.

He has better defenders in front of him now so it's no surprise.

I don't agree with signing a veteran back up though - we need to be signing first team quality.

Argentine. Looked a good shot stopper but there wasn't too many crosses in the world cup (not that i noticed anyway) so cannot say what his ability to command the area is like.

There's a few compilation videos of his WC saves on youtube - he saved a few penalties as well. Very quick on his feet, very vocal, good shot stopper, good distribution ................. have I sold him to you yet? <laugh>

Being dropped has really helped him. Injury to Jones has helped him further.:emoticon-0148-yes::emoticon-0172-mooni

Thought he was great today, especially in the 1st half when the defence was very shaky and in what are very difficult conditions for goalkeepers.

What if Jones isn't injured and it's all just a #mindfuck to make Mignolet feel needed

His shot stopping has always been there but it looks like he's starting to be a lot more dominant in crosses now as well.

Its t's obviously helped having a decent defence infront of him now as well. A back 3 with cover infront has meant he's having to deal with less shots.

His clean sheet record is up there above all the current top 4 and only bettered when last looked by Forster and Fabianski

He was very good again today.

Good stop after one of their penalty shouts and held the ball well after one of their free kicks where one of their players followed the ball in.

    Like a different player.

  20. He was good with dealing with crosses prior to and when to first joined us. However, he stopped punching and started trying to catch everything. I think the coaching staff were encouraging him to try and catch. Since returning to the first team he's gone back to basics; clear the danger first, everything else second.
