At least he has scored enough to have a goal(s) montage , our other flops Becchio Van Wolfswinkel Elmander and Lafferty would maybe fill a 20 second clip between them .
Agreed and I suspect his recent goals and run out under AN will increase his confidence and we could see the best from him in the home straight.
It annoyed me how Norwich fans treated Bassong, there was rumours flying around at the start of the season about how he apparently 'treated' Adams and a lot of people wanted to cut him out for it. Fair play for Alex Neil for giving him a second chance. Yesterday he handled the threat of Deeney, Ighalo and Anya well he had the powerful Deeney in his pocket, he was first to almost every ball in the box and wise enough not to fall for the bullshit moves that Ighalo and Anya tried to pull on him. Grabban has had a difficult time I think it's absolutely impossible for anyone to be a Norwich forward sometimes, as you have to meet Grant Holt type standards and if you don't sections of the fans will instantly be on your case. There are some unrealistic expectations that all forwards are supposed to run back like centre backs when not in possession, those don't are regarded as lazy players, there is no appreciation for individualism sometimes. Anyways it's great to see players come in from the cold and prove their critics wrong.
It's great to see Bassong restored to his former standard, he was, however, very disrespectful to NA and it took some time in the doldrums and then farmed out to Watford for him to realise the error of his ways! There is no doubt that Alec Neil's man-management skills have been very well implemented!
It was widely reported, though I believe unverified, that Bassong told Adams he wasn't going to play for him because he wasn't good enough. Seems entirely believable, given Bassong being immediately marginalised. Whether you consider that an accurate assessment by Bassong or not (personally I'd say it's a little harsh and he was probably itching for a move) it's undoubtedly disrespectful. Once Bassong had worked out that nobody was prepared to take him in the PL, Adams getting replaced by Neil was the perfect way back in. All water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. Though I would say that despite the excellent all-round performance yesterday, Bassong was guilty I think twice in the first half of giving Watford great opportunities. So as much as he is our best defender, he still is a liability on occasion.
It was well reported at the time, he had no wish to play for such an inexperienced manager! When you're paid the amount of money he gets, you don't make those sort of remarks!
Bassong is only a liability is when he tries to over complicate things, when he keeps it simple his brilliant, when he gets cocky and thinks his Beckenbauer that's when things go wrong for him.
Although it comes across as blunt, he said what a lot of fans thought at the time. A radio personalty who won the FA youth cup wasn't going to storm Championship it was immensely ridiculous and arrogant to of thought an inexperienced manager could walk this league.
It might be believable, not neccesarily true. plus I don't recall any report stating this as the case.
As I said, and Dave too, there were lots of reports at the time. To my knowledge, unverified, but also not denied by Bassong. To be honest, I think he probably did say something disrespectful. Frankly, he's back in the team and I don't care. Like Hoolahan. Water under the bridge.
Hoolahan too ,another one proving his doubters wrong. I can hold my hands up & say I thought Rusty was dictating to Adams that he play at CB so he & Whittacker could keep playing for Scotland & the pair of them have been instrumental in our recent run. Finally we have a solid back 5 that we can trust to keep a clean sheet. We have hit form at the business end of the season & fear nobody.
Neil did for Bassong what Adams did for Wes. Bassong was clearly angry at the club for sacking Hughton and there was clearly a problem. That's been sorted now so let's move on. Bassong is.
Still not sure about Rusty sometimes but on Saturday he was brilliant, I do think Neil is good at getting the best out of his players and perhaps some of defensive weaknesses was down to the experience of the previous manager.
According to today's Evening News, the lowest score any of our players got was a '7' and they reckon Bassong was MotM!!!
