Had a go with a translation app on the phone. The title says: An emotional Ronald Koeman about his deceased father. I think the interview may have been over December, a year after his Dad died in 2013. It's clear he loved him dearly. Had mixed results from two apps. The first word is Difficult [which set the tone for the translators]. I think it was about what his father missed seeing since he died, for example the Dutch during the World Cup and his managing at Southampton. I got cheesed off with the apps failure to do better after that. It was only 30+ seconds, so he couldn't say much anyway.
Can't stop listening to the Glee version of Like a Prayer. Think the use of multiple voices (male and female) for the verses is quite effective.
Okay, here's some random musical info for you. The person playing bass on Like A Prayer is a fantastic player called Guy Pratt, who when Roger Waters departed Pink Floyd became their bass player. Michael Jackson heard the bass line on Like A Prayer and said "I want to use this guy" so brought him in to record World Song (you'll notice that there are similarities in the bass lines on the two songs). Guy is also a Brighton resident, and came to Fable's last gig, whereupon he put on his Facebook page "she is by far the best thing I have seen in many a year". Just saying
That's pretty cool! And this Fable sounds good, I know you've posted about her before but I've not gotten around to listening to any of her songs... I shall now endevour to do so! What would you recommend as a good intro?
Oh crikey. I'd be mighty surprised if she's your bag PL, but this is probably the easiest one of hers to listen to -
Not bad. Very ethereal and a nice voice. Any others you recommend? What kinda genre is she anyway, if this is different compared to her other songs?
To be honest she doesn't fit in a genre really, which is her biggest strength and our biggest hurdle. This track is the one that's had the most attention and is probably most representative - https://m.soundcloud.com/fablemusic/fable-stranger-in-my-head-1
Wow... I was not expecting that. That was.... interesting. Kinda funky, does she do the instrumentation herself? And vocally she sounds a lot like KT Tunstall imo.
Give it a few listens. It's not one that necessarily you get all the parts of straight off. If you click on the "FableMusic" header on that page you can hear the other 2 tracks from that EP too. She writes all the topline, so the melody, lyrics etc. What sits underneath on these tracks to date is done by a band called Archive.
You'll have to explain that one Beef. I don't do all-things Parma, unless it's tasting a bit of Parma Ham.
