What a goal from Marcelo. Well worth looking up if you missed it, he just belted it into the top corner off his "weaker" right foot.
Roberto Martinez asked Harry Redknapp for advice about playing on Young Boys' plastic pitch ahead of their Europa League game - while somehow forgetting that we were 3-0 down within half an hour in that match.
I thought it was 2-2 in that game? Anyway, they're a good bet for tonight, they've already beaten Napoli on that dodgy pitch and Everton have had a crap season for the most part.
That makes him ideal to speak about the pitfalls. God that was depressing for a while. All this wait to get in CL and then look like we were going to blow it against a team with a joke name.
Good to see the BBC remaining impartial: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-31510074 So while the Haringey Independent has been live-blogging the court goings-on, which is documenting how Arseway have been giving themselves enough rope to rig HMS Victory with enough left over to hang themselves, the corporation we pay £145.50 for every year regurgitates all of Arseway's false claims while all but accusing the club of arson.
However shocking the things people were doing and chanting, I may be more shocked that anyone is stupid enough to act like this in a public place. Stupid is as stupid does, I guess. http://www.theguardian.com/politics...etro-video-posed-in-picture-with-nigel-farage "Mitchell McCoy, a 17-year-old Chelsea fan who was also on the train, has spoken to a number of media outlets defending the incident, claiming there was no racism involved. He told LBC: “The carriage was full up, there was no room for him to get on and he tried to force himself on. He was really aggressive, pushing himself. I’d say it was self defence, pushing him off.” Asked whether the pushing and chanting were connected, he said: “No of course it wasn’t connected. The press are trying to make something out of nothing.” At the time of the incident, McCoy sent a number of tweets which he later deleted, including one which read: “Our captain is a racist a racist a racist and that is why we love him we love him we love him.” In replies to other tweeters, he claimed people in the video were his friends and that the fans weren’t “letting white people on either”." Getting yourself caught dead to rights like this certainly makes you look like a mental midget. On another thread (I think) I mentioned how bizarre I found the whole of violent football culture. There just ain't nothin' like it over here, probably because people over here are so likely to carry guns that the crowd violence culture can't get rolling. (Very) common people openly behaving in a racist way doesn't happen over here either, but it's not so long since it did. Some sort of public racism was in the papers every day in the sixties, and often enough in the seventies. In the eighties it started to get somewhat rarer. From the nineties up until the present you still get individuals occasionally caught making racist comments, but not groups engaging in overtly racist behavior, outside of overtly racist political groups--though these still exist. It feels like there's been a sea change. In the old days the people most likely to be racist were poor whites, often called white trash. Now the same group seems to have become more color blind than the other demographics. An anti-elitist pride in being racist seems to have flipped into an anti-elitist pride in not giving a **** about race. Don't get me wrong. Economic and judicial racism are every bit as bad as ever. But social racism in the US has diminished almost extraordinarily in my lifetime. I don't know how long it's been since I've heard a word said against mixed race marriage, when that used to be the assholes' favorite pet hate. I think the same thing will happen in the UK in the next couple of decades. The only reason it happened first in the US was that the US had a more diverse population earlier.
Mitchell McCoy shows ushow stupid the Chavs are, there was plenty of room in that Carriage, judging by the video, what i find strange is not one of Chelsea currant black players has come forward and condemmed the action of so called fans
Man United want Walker for.....30 million? Anyone else they want while they are looking......?Maybe Soldado for 3 quid and a meat pie?
Matic just been straight red card-ed for Chelsea. I always forget - does this carry into the Capital One Cup? Edit - just confirmed by BBC that Matic is out of the final. That is big news.
Palace hit the post with virtually the last touch of the game with the score at 2-1. Balls. Matic being out for the final's big news, but the advantages are mainly Chelsea's. We don't play til tomorrow, then we've got a tough midweek game. Sherwood was banging on about having the best record as a Spurs manager. Following a loss in his first game as Villa boss, that means that he's currently got their worst record. Doubt he'll mention that!
Chelsea fans all buying into Mourinho's ridiculous campaign bullshit, now. Yeah, that ref today clearly hates them. You know, Martin Atkinson, the bloke that gave them a goal that didn't get anywhere near the line...
This anti-Chelski thing will be all over the media now just because, for once, some perhaps dodgy decisions have gone against them and perhaps cost them 2pts. This will be all the ammunition that their fans need to prove this campaign against them. Forgets to mention the fact that they spend the whole season getting decisions in their favour. Unfortunately this ref performance will then overshadow the performance of the ref in the Arse game, where (not seen it yet) the Arsenal pen might have been outside the box (or on the line) and the second one was offside. Yeah right, sure it "all evens out over the season". So let me know when Arsenal lose a game through two dodgy ref decisions. I wont hold my breath.
Coquelin also made a chest high, studs up tackle in the first half and wasn't even booked, apparently. Haven't seen it, so I don't know how bad it was, but it's typical Clattenburg, if true.
City looking like they're going to take advantage of Chelsea's slip today. 28 seconds to get a penalty and 12 minutes to bag a second. Long way to go, though. Mourinho will be in full frothing mouth mode now.
When the supporters are on the Underground then they are no longer the responsibility of the club, you may as well blame their employers as well, the club is not to blame for the behaviour of their fans, what utter bullshit. I've been out all day but read somewhere that Chelsea were playing to their fluent best......1-1. The second half in the CL was rubbish too.
Man City 3-0 up after 21 minutes. Embarrassing for Newcastle. Mourinho’s conspiracy talk has not had the effect he wanted, at least so far. This leaves Arsenal, IMO, as the refs’ darlings, with Liverpool second. Man City has never tended to have the consistent favoritism the other top four teams get. Man U is not (yet) getting the calls they got in under Fergie, though they certainly got the rub of the green against us.
