Well said. Im embarrased by some of the fans on here! Everybody kicked off this time last year when we signed Bramble and Wellbeck, then after a few months they were the best thing since sliced bread. the word FICKLE springs to mind! These posters should do us all a favour and go support the Geordies!
Kevin kilbane, rep Ireland international, says it all. U21- not too hard to get in that bracket I'm afraid. Welsh international, might aswell not be an international. Korean international, name me more than 2 good players In that side, if you know 2 that is. I'm not moaning about the signings anyway, I'm just saying they are not exiting.
Reminds me of another right winger... David Beckham, he's made a good living from being slow, without skill and with good deliveries.
Couldn't of put it better myself, after what i have been used to following the lads i am chuffed with all of them.
So an 18 year old that has played no more than 30 games in the championship exites you more than an prolific goalscorer and england international, and a top 25 player in the world nominee + star of the world cup. You are kidding with me, surely?
gbsafc4eva- Why dont you find your nearest Sports direct shop and buy yourself a Newcastle top you Fickle N#b, because you are no better than them lot! You are either thick or you have a short memory, Look how far our club has come over the last 3 years! Who'd have thought we'd be watching Brown and O'shea instead of the likes of Nos and Russell Anderson! People like you make me sick
Well instead of being sick, read the post properly clever boy. I like the signings but they don't exite me! What one exites you then? Out of 8 you might find one. Nothing wrong with that, aslong as we bring a striker and a proper winger in. And yes I have watched us over them times. I don't expect the world, but we have got a lot of money, and I want someone to get me jumping out my seat.
Think your all being a bit harsh on the OP, he's not saying they're bad signings, just not exciting in the same way as gyan and sessegnon were. What they are are good signings who will all improve the squad, brown and o'shea will be excellent for us i think, how many goals did we give away last season in the last ten minutes because we had no cool heads at the back? Gardener is what we've been missing since don hutchinson left, a midfielder who's not afraid to shoot and also likes to get in the box. The two forwards (from what little i've seen of them) both look like they've got the potential to be really good players. I understand they're not the most glamourous players, which is what the OP is trying to say (i think), but i'm very happy with them all so far.
If i hear 'which one exites you' once more i think im guna throw up! But seriously every single one of them 'excites' me as collectively they are a massive improvement on the strength of the squad in such a short time of the transfer window being open and will undoubtedly win us tough points next season. Think back to Stoke away last season, we outplayed them for a large majority of the game with what some may call exciting football and what happened, we went away with nothing because of a lack of backbone, bottle and experience. Lets be honest we're not Keegans Newcastle of yesteryear, id take 3points and a decent hardworking performance over exciting defeat any day of the week.
No. We all knew what Bent was about before we signed him, so excite me ? No. High expectations ? Yes. Yes I was excited about Gyan, but not as much as Wickham, he has the potential to be a star on the world stage and he is a Sunderland player, I'm not naive enough to think he will be with us for any more than 4-5 years but by then all the top clubs in Europe will be trying to outbid each other for him.
The signings aren't exciting, as such, but we have Sess and Gyan for that. I am excited about seeing decent corners and free kicks going in, thus creating more chances, and hopefully more goals, so Seb ticks that. Gardner is a midfielder who is not afraid to shoot from range, so that's something to be excited about. Not exciting players, but they can bring some excitement to the overall picture, if that makes sense.
All of them excite me actually fool!! We have just signed two top quality versatile defenders from the biggest club in the world, that will bring a winning mentality to our back 4, not to mention experience! Larson excites me because we finally have sombody that can cross a ball, also wanted by Arsenal! Gardener was a stand out player for Brum last season! Goal scoring Mid that we need, he gave us a torrid time in both games last season! Wickham excites me because he is one of our countries biggest prospects. He was wanted by all the top teams and he gives us a physical presence upfront! Dong Wong is one for the future, but he was also wanted by alot of big clubs in europe! Vaughan was Blackpool's stand out performer last year, voted players player of the year infront of Adam. He cost nothing, which is an added bonus!!
Christ man. I was as pissed off as the next man at the end of the season but I cant help but be impressed with the signings we have made so far. EVERY single one will add to the squad and in Brown and O Shea, we are adding Champions League experience. These lads have played at the pinnacle of club football and all the pressures and strains that brings. I have been critical of the man recently yes, but equally, when he has turned it round as he has, he doesn't deserve this kind of negative response chum. There is still 5 weeks to go till the stsart of the season and 8 until the window closes. He has brought in 9 players (if Vaughan signs tomorrow) and its only July 7th man.
I partially agree with the op that one player doesn't excite me. What the op fails to realise is that he's put a negative slant on all of them even the one that does excite him (wickham). What really excites me is the squad players we have signed which have improved the team and the squad as a whole. Very excited Sunderland fan.
Why don't you wait until they play and then see if they excite you? Bruce has clearly looked at where we lacked last year and has tried to address the problem. The Man Utd two should excite you as they could bring composure and clean sheets at the back. I remember Steve Bold coming and the same, he's here for the pay check, past it blah - however we were 2nd in the league until he got crocked and he was the best centre half I've ever seen play for Sunderland. I'm not saying these two are as good as Bold was but they are up there. Remember ALL these players have been brought in for less than the fee of Henderson. Bruce could have splashed all his cash on Nzog, where would that have got us? We now have a dead ball specialist (lacking forever). We have experienced defenders who hopefully will lead and guide our very young team. we have goals from the midfield. two very good young strickers who will be busting a gut. I still think we need 2 more players but didn't Bruce say he wanted 10??? We are not at the stage of buying one or two to tweak the squad still (the amount of business our club gets through is unbelievable still) Of course without seeing them play and how they gel it's difficult to predict but I think we are pushing top 8.
I'm thrilled with how Sunderland have gone about getting the transfer target's in quickly, quite sure it's taken some of the other club's in and around us in the league by surprise. Most of the signing's have already played at the highest level, so they know how to deal with the demands, so will just need to settle in with 'the new club and player's'. They will bring in experience and help the younger squad through. Afterall 'you can't win anything with kid's'. Has for an exciting player well there is still 6-7 weeks of transfer window left, I'm sure there's a surprise or two to happen by then.
