Gus Poyet is relishing Sunderland’s Barclays Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies arrive on Wearside having lost just once in their last nine outings, and the head coach is fully aware of the test awaiting the Black Cats who are looking to respond to back to back defeats.

Poyet also praised the impact Tony Pulis following his move to the Hawthorns at the start of 2015, explaining that the Baggies have quickly become a tough team to beat whilst remaining dangerous when going forward.

Speaking to safc.com, Poyet shared his thoughts ahead of a big game at the Stadium of Light.

“It is a great opportunity and a very important game,” said Poyet. “It is similar to the Burnley game and I hope that it is the same result, because the idea is to be mentally and physically strong and to be better technically.

“It is a game that we’re really looking forward to playing but West Brom are now in a position where they know exactly what Tony Pulis wants.

“I think it is clear that they’re very solid but they know they will get chances sooner or later, so it will be extremely difficult and we need to understand that although we may have the ball it doesn’t mean that you’re control.”

He continued: “Tony Pulis’ arrival is a change without a doubt, because they have been playing a certain way since the days of Tony Mowbray, Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Clarke and now Tony has put his touch on the team.

“They will become a team that is very difficult to play against but they also have pace and individual ability, plus they’re dangerous from set plays so they have plenty of attributes and it will be a very tough game.”

And how long has he been there?

So, either our lot don`t know what Gus wants or they do know what he wants but they can`t do it.

Getting tired of this now like. Got to show something tomorrow.

That one mate. PDC tried to do it but realised in three games they couldn't do it and scrapped it.

I won't be on here tomorrow as me & Mrs Smug will need to leave home at 7am in order to get to the match in good time.
We'll be in the Victory (Paradise) around 1pm so all are welcome, friends or foe.

To the dozens who have 'offered me out' over the years, you know who you are, this will be one of your last chances.
I'm 60 in September and have promised the family that there'll be no more violence. So, to all of you who were 'definitely showing up', then never actually made it, you're running out of time lads. In the words of Deliah 'where are you?'.

To anyone who wants to meet for good reason I'll be happy to buy you a pint ..... there isn't a man in Sunderland I owe a pint to and that will never change. The thing is, it's a pleasure to offer a drink to those who've helped with tickets, accommodation or simply been good company.

So, whether you'll be there or not ....... have a great time tomorrow and remember that we're all in this leaky old boat together.

    Haway Lads!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still not buying that the players are to blame at the moment fella. Poyet's style makes them look lazy and lethargic but the second half against QPR I saw a team enjoying having a go when Gus went a bit more direct and upped the tempo. Need see more before I blame the players here. There's one whom I suspect of not pulling his weight and that's Fletch. I'm keeping my eye on them though

    <laugh>

It's on my list mate, show up tomorrow and it's yours <ok>

Incidentally, I've just had an email from Northampton police informing me that I have some good news.
Before the Man City final, as you may remember, I bought 4 hospitality tickets from a poster on here called 'Turtlemick'.

They cost me £800 and, of course, they never arrived.
I couldn't find him, despite contacting the police, so asked my mates in the Hells Angel's for help ....... they found him in days and I posted that on here.
He was visited and 'regretted' his actions.

I subsequently gave the police his details etc and they found he'd pulled the same scam with Sunderland, Hull, etc.
Even though this is Northampton police the lass was from Durham, small world!

Anyway, the process has been going on since then and I was informed, today, that the Crown Prosecution Service have approved him, and his son, to be charged. The court case is March 9th and, of course, I'll be there grinning madly <ok>

I've already had my revenge so this is for any other desperate supporters he's ripped off.
I was helped, with 2 Sunderland tickets, by a total stranger Sunderland lad so it didn't spoil my weekend.

But, for anyone he ripped off and never made it to the match ......... this is for you <ok>

It was for 4 tickets in a box so only £200 a pop ......... just about bearable seeing as it could be my last final, at nearly 60 years old.
I had 2 sold, on here, so it wasn't too bad.
I'd already bought 2 in the City end for £360 so I was now over a grand down.

This lad has now had a 'house call' from the HA, is being prosecuted and will eventually find a small claims court envelope from Mr Scott pop through his letterbox. I'm sure he laughed his bollix off when my bank transfer landed ........ his asre will be going now though <ok>
