We were pure ****e when Mulgrew was playing that position under Deila. Since Bitton has come into the team it has looked more balanced in the middle. I was glad the boy Henderson cleaned the auld full-back out after he'd done the same to him five minutes earlier. First time we've showed some grit in Europe under Ronny.
Aye, both teams defended like weans. Celtic probably just shaded it in terms of possession and shots but every ball over the top is still causing Van Dijk & Denayer problems. Was good to see the team trying to play fitba in Europe instead of grinding out results via attrition.
Generally really happy with that result ... two poor goals caused by Gordon but he can't be blamed as it's only due to him that celtic got to this stage. I really hope pistol can get £6m plus for Van Dyke as, to be honest, he's not that great. He strolls it in SPL and will be a massive loss but at times in europe he is out his depth. Shat it when Ambrose was sent on! Biton was our best player last night closely followed by GMS and Armstrong - brilliant double signing. Did think it was a bit cringey last night celebrating the draw ... yes, thank the fans but stop fist punching the air when we draw etc Note - Sutton is a bitter ****.
I don't mind the celebrating with the fans. It's better than the sterile ****e you get down South. I also think that engaging the fans with the club, management & players is the best way to get rid of the non-football pish we're subjected to at times. If they football is absorbing enough then the rest of the attendant crap gets forgotten about.
Sutton and McManaman talking pure pish after the game. McManaman saying "Celtic should be beating Inter" then next minute calling Inter "the superior side" Sutton just being his usual rent-a-gub self for whichever media outlet will help him pay his debts. Giving Izzy pelters for no trying hard enough
Biton has been showing the kind of potential lately that made us buy him, I thought him and Mathews were stand outs especially first half, second half Bitons passing let him down at times and Mathews was running out of gas not surprisingly. Armstrong looks nice on the ball, he has a touch of class and a good brain but is still a bit lightweight, GMS looked like he really enjoyed it, he will do a job for us. Cant believe anyone would want to take 6m for VVD, he is head and shoulders our classiest player, his range of passing is bordering on Hummelsesque, he is so comfortable on the ball which is what you want in a centre back, his positioning can be good at times but it will get better. Dont forget him and Denayer dont have an awful lot of experience at that level with that expectation. Lot of pressure on centre backs and to put his foot on the ball and step out making passes like last night takes a lot of class. Hes not a Mjallby or a Valgaeren type but if we could find one like them to partner him it would be ideal. A centre back like that can take a lot of pressure off the midfield at times and can bypass them completely with a good pass, he reminds me of Dante at Bayern. And with the way we are trying to play football now, on the deck passing game, we need him.
Actually quite enjoyed the game. It was certainly end to end stuff. Some of the passing was shocking especially from the Tallies. Never seen an Italian team make so many missed passes. Got to hand it to Celtic for coming back from 2-0 down. Biton, Mathews and Armstrong were stand outs.
Suffice to say the guy is an absolute bellend of a man. His opinion matters about as much as Kenny Mcdowell's does at Ibrox.
