Seems David Brent has lucked out again... He's so busy sucking hendersons cock now after relegating him to right wing back earlier in season when he was licking Gerrard's balls that he forgot to tell balotelli he was not pen taker like the guy was told at start of season Brent just kicks the balls of any player he thinks he needs right now and treats those he doesn't think he needs within 24 hours like dog turd Hook line and f'n sinker! Now let that be a lesson to all the non reds out there...
The difference is Balotelli is one of the world's best penalty takers and Henderson is unproven. It was sensible to take it off Henderson. Mirallas taking it off Baines was ridiculous as Baines has one of the best penalty records in the premier league. And how likely was Balotelli to miss it? Not very, because he's scored 27 out of 29 penalties he's taken. Henderson has a 100% miss record. I personally think Henderson should've given it to Balotelli and accepted that he was the best penalty taker by far on the pitch.
Henderson has never taken a penalty outside of a shoot out for us. Is a 0-0 situation really the best time for him to start? Balotelli is a great penalty taker and a much safety better when the out come will decide the game.
The Mirallas comment was pure #meltdown Henderson didn't bottle taking it, Balotelli asked for it, Henderson gave it, it was scored Everything played out perfectly
I dont get why Henderson is taking so many kicks any way. Is he trying to hard to be Gerrard? Balotelli is better at it. End of debate. Focus on your strengths Jordan, you have plenty of them to still shine in this team.
You're missing the point. The manager appoints the penalty taker pre-match. Last night that also happened to be the team captain. He's stood in front of him and removed the ball from him, which is totally disrespecting the managers choice and the team captain. Mirallas picked up the ball and marched to the spot with it. Their relative histories with penalty kicks is irrelevant.
Shouldn't Henderson have put up more of a fight to keep hold of the ball in that case? People can talk about disrespect all they want - our best pen taker scored a penalty which won the game. I probs would have been livid if Henderson took the penalty simply because he's not the man to do it.
What if Balotelli was told he would take penalties if he was subbed on, but Henderson tried to refuse. This may not be how it appeared on TV.
Balotelli's record is the best at LFC and I would argue he is ahead of Gerrard. Gerrard's record is also very good - lucky to have a few players in the team that can accept the pressure and responsibility.
Balotelli took it upon himself to take the penalty. There is no way Rodgers would have given him the go ahead and not let Henderson know. He need to be at least told in no uncertain terms that team instructions have to be obeyed. The fact that he scored is good but does not hide the fact that he disobeyed orders and disrespected the captain (who did not stand his ground and did not want to make a fuss). If Henderson had kept the ball, would Balo have wrestled it out of him? I wonder.
As the captain then yes he should imo. Can you imagine Gerrard handing over the ball to him? It was piss weak really. You'd have been even more livid if having taken the ball last night and done his dummy shuffle, the keeper read it and he missed.......
Instructions may well be given in the dressing room but once the game's in play there has to be room for manoeuvre to accommodate players feeling a strain or knock for example and the captain has to judge things like that as and when they happen. Last night's situation was unusual because normally it would have been Gerrard, no question, and we've had very few games [if any] when he's not been on the pitch when we've been given a pen. so never had to go to second on the list. I think Sturridge made it worse by arguing, had he not said anything we would have just seen Hendo and Balo 'deciding' who felt like it.
Balotelli held the ball up well and drew the most fouls of any Liverpool player on the night, and all in dangerous positions. He only misplaced one pass and helped out at the back with a clearance too. #impact
On average 80% of penalties are scored but Liverpool have missed 8 of the last 10 match penalties when not taken by Gerrard #rescue
I think he played really well. I wonder whether his lazy approach that stops him being selected is actually harming us sometimes.
